After a month of study,Talked to them all, looked for surplus motors, found some found controllers...etc. After totaling it up, and finding out that Dozer give personal lesson to anyone who purchases and shows up at his place.
(it takes me about a year to buy a car, I agonize on it for months).

I'm back to the grizzle, Quick survey,what do you put on the arbor on the other side . I see the options as;

flap wheel
felt soft
felt hard
or the funny little pnuematic arbor sanding drums grizzle hawks as accesories.

I think the felt buffing wheel is what I need ( i'm clueless) , Do I need hard felt or soft?

Next question, Gizzly sell belts, 1 and 2 grade, are the 1st grade worth it?
or should I get them elsewhere? How Many of each grade would you recomend to start with ( shipping is cruel sometimes).

Any comments appreciated.

needless to say , I can't keep it all sharp enough......I got to automate.

Why limit yourself to just one?

Get a few collets to go on the arbor and have a 2 or 3 wheels - sure is long enough. Better yet, see if you can put a tapered spindle on the end and have a "quick-change" buffing station as well.

The hard felt is what you need to put a kick ass edge finish edge on any knife! Methinks it's about as good as a leather stropping belt, but without having any experience with one of the leather belts I couldn't say for certain.:rolleyes: ;) I do speak from experience with the hard felt wheels though.:)

Don't go with the belts that come with Grizzly -- they "bump" and don't track very well. You'd be better off getting some 3-M, Klingspor, or other belts from a knifemaking supply site.

A variety of buffing wheels is the best way to do it, but the type depends on what you plan on doing with them. Obviously, the harder the wheel, the more aggressive it buffs (with the right compound). The softer wheels are used for finish polishing and such. Beware though, the loose, soft wheels are also the most dangerous.

Good luck. :)
