Or even better, a fixed blade version of the Yo2! What about it Mike?
Anyone else interested?

I am 100% interested and I am shocked that it has not been offered yet. Also with the popularity of the Yo2 I think there should be a trainer available. The Yo2 has to be selling more than the P'Kal.

86 views and only two of us - I'm not likin' those odds!
But it would be a handy blade, even if you are not inclined to carry for SD.
As long as spyderco is only going to make two :), let's go for maximum edge retention and get it in S90V or equivalent!

People have been asking if a Ronin2 would be coming out as soon as the Yo2 was announced. I don't think Sal ever said "no", but people may have just moved on. I may send a custom maker my Yo2 and say "Do a fixed version of this!" I would prefer one by Spyderco though...

As cool as the Ronin is, I would rather see an update of the Kalista but more in accordance with Mr. Janich's original Wharncliffe design.

Sal said on the the Spyderco Site General Discussion Forum (today?) that a new version of the Ronin is being worked on. I remember that some time ago - one or two years - that Michael Janich mentioned the possibility of a new Ronin in, if I recall correctly, 8CrMov13 steel. I have no idea if that is the plan now. If so, it may help keep the cost down. For me, I have no problem with that steel for that knife.

I hope that this is not correct. I do not appreciate an idea about moving Golden model somewhere else, especially in PRC.

Maybe I missed it but Sal just said "Its in the works" and Janich said that Sal and Eric have been given the Mickey Yurko design to go off of. Nothing about steel type or production location. Either way I want one.

Hope this is cool to do, but this is MJ's response to the question at the spyderco home forum:
"After the Yo2 was released, my friend Mickey Yurco made me a fixed-blade version of it that absolutely rocks. Sal and Eric liked it and added one to their prototype/concept model display to gauge interest from folks at shows."

So, the Yurko design sounds like a Yo2 fixed blade, or at least starts with that. That sounds great to me. No mention of steel. I am happy to hear that spyderco has been at least thinking about it and has something in the works. It's all good.

If you want a cool Ronin now (it is the Holiday Season, after all), Stay Safe Media has some of Mickey's custom versions of the Gen 1 Ronin available. He uses shorter handle scales to leave the finger choil exposed steel, which makes for excellent fit and retention in the Kydex sheath. See them here: http://www.staysafemedia.com/yurco-ronin-group.html.

Stay safe,

Mike
