I have been waiting for a chance to get back to Peru and do some jungle living. This is really my favorite place to spend time in the outdoors. I will be heading out on Saturday May 7th 20011 and meeting the rest of the team in Lima. From there we will all travel to Iquitos together and hit the bush.

Not a chance, I've seen where his hands have been!

I got all packed up today too. My gear is significantly heavier than 4 pounds but I include all boots and clothing in the pack. I've also got some camera gear in there. I have to buy my machete in country. Hopefully that won't be too hard.

Since you guys are spending the night in Iquitos you can go to the hardware store (there are about 3 in the area that I know of) and get one so you can set it up before we hit the forest. I only take my machete because it is one less thing to have to do. It is already sharp and the handle is the way I want it. The ones with the wood handle may need to be sanded down or filed.

Have fun, stay safe, and take lots of pics! (I'm pretty sure you knew all that already though)

color me jealous! I'm starting to save my pennies- hopefully next year :)

has anyone tried a steripen for purification? I know I've read accounts that the water has some very fine silt that reek havoc on a pump filter

have a great trip and both you guys take lots of pics! :D

Very cool sounding trip!
Both of you have a great time and stay safe.
Lots of pic's as mtwarden said would be great.

Very cool man, as always, I`ll be looking forward to your trip report!

Looks like you're set to have some fun. The Power eagle is a heck of a chopper and I am thinking about building a kit, something like the one Mac (Pict) carries, around one of the TM-2s. I know the pics of the trip will definitely be worth a look, I'm looking forward to them.
