Returned the knife

So I was going to order another full size griptilian. I have not owned one in quite some time and was kind of wanting another one. Well ...... I was looking around online and found a great deal at one popular knife vendor (not sure if I can say the name but it starts with G and maybe has a P next and they sell knives). After kicking around the idea, I started to realize that I wanted to get another bugout. So I start looking at what they had to offer. The last one I had was the ranger green and I loved it. They only had the blue and black CF one in stock. So I added the black to the cart and saw the price and didn't think much of it because the large Grip was such a great price. I just figured so was this. Well I looked again at my order and I bought a Mini bugout!!!!!! I don't know what to think. It's too late to call and stop it since I already received a shipping notice a few hours after the purchase. Now I have had mini grips out the wazoo and loved them. Currently have a small crk 21, and a delica 4 that get carried so I don't mind that size. I also carry a pm2 a lot or a recon 1. Just not sure if I am going to hate this thing. Or if I should just return it and get the standard, or give this thing a chance. Thoughts on the mini? Anyone carry the standard bugout and then switch to the mini and like it?

If it was me, I would give them a call. They might be able to correct the order prior to it shipping. Sometimes you get lucky and actually get someone who is helpful. Lately, I haven’t had much luck with minis. The 945 and the 565-1 are both on the small side for me and haven’t seem much carry time. The bugout is a great size but I know the mini would be to small for me. Good luck, I hope they can get it sorted out for you.

I am going to try and call tomorrow. I called here a few minutes ago but they are already closed. I think you are right and it might be too small for my liking.
Plus.... I really wanted another standard size.

I have been trying to watch videos on this little guy hoping that I might get more excited about it. But I am afraid that it's going to definitely have to head back as soon as it gets here. I think I will still try to see how it feels in hand first. That is if it did already ship out and cannot be taken care of.

So I decided to stop at a local outdoor shop that is a benchmade dealer. I have bought quite a few knives there over the years. I wanted to see if they had a mini bugout for me to get in my hand and see how it fits. Well they had all kinds of bugouts!! Standard and Mini. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the mini felt in my hand. It was not small feeling like the mini grips is in my xxl hands. I could get 4 fingers on the grip. I think I might hang onto it when it arrives Monday!!

But..... While I was there... I decided to look at some Griptilians. Remember I originally wanted to pick up another large. Well.... They had quite a few NOS 154cm grips there that were heavily discounted since the case was nearly full of s30v grips. So .. I ended up picking up a 550 full size grip. Forgot how much I like these things!

My favorite BM of all time! Can you please PM me and let me know where you got it? I gave my last 154CM 550hg to my brother about a year ago and haven’t stopped missing it.

That's nice, I love that sheepsfoot style blade. I have a D2 Grip but it has the other style blade and I never liked that geometry. I had ordered a custom full-size Grip in S90V with G10 grips but ended up having to cancel that one over a minor customer service problem. I would love a full size grip with the sheepsfoot blade in S30V or 154CM or 20CV. I dislike the cheap nylon grips about as much as I dislike the old blade style, I really wish aftermarket G10 grips were more widely available at a reasonable price. As much as I'm griping about it, I really love the full size Grip. I just imagine how much more I would like it if I had that sheepsfoot blade with G10 scales. I've got a ZT 0640 I might sell to raise funds to order a custom full-size Grip. Good luck with your mini-bugout, hopefully it will work out for you.

Thanks for the reply. I honestly forgot how much I love the full size grip. It's not too big of a knife and disappear s in the pocket. The handles never bothered me. But I always liked to upgrade them in the past with wilkins grips. Which now seem discontinued. This is by far the smoothest benchmade I have opened yet. The pivot it tight , there is no side to side or up and down play, and the blade will sail open and drop shut. I also forgot how much of a slicer the 550 is. I am looking forward to the mini bugout now that I know it fits in my hand. It will be a perfect work carry, or summer shorts carry. Or heck... Al all around good carry.

Well the mini showed up yesterday. I spoke with the guys at GPK, and they said I could open it up and see how it fits my hand, and return it if I wanted to. Unfortunately after looking at it in hand for a few minutes and getting a better idea on just how small it actually is..... I decided to send it back. I really just wanted the full size bugout again. However.....I find it funny that I stumbled back to a large Grip and am completely in love with it. I really forgot how great they are. So much so, that it has kicked everything else out of my pockets and even others for consideration. I am afraid if I grab another bugout, it won't get used.

Kind of crazy how it worked out. And I cannot say enough good things about GPK. Absolutely fantastic customer service.
