I started shaving in the late 60's with an old DE razor that my dad gave me. After I joined the service a few years later, I just didn't have time for "the routine", so I switched to disposables and eventually just went with cartridge razors for the last 40yrs or so. Last summer, I tried the Gillette Fusion razors and enjoyed the shave, but the cartridges lasted about 4 shaves before they felt like I was "shaving" with a sheet of 80 grit.
So I decided to go back to DE. I dug through a few old boxes in the attic and found my old Gillette razor. It needed a good cleaning/disinfecting, but otherwise looks just like the day I packed it up ~40yrs ago. Now I just need to stock up on blades, soap and balm again.
I've probably spent more on cartridges in the past few years than I spent on my first few cars!
