On July 13 I sent four of my Spydercos knives to Golden for resharpening. And today I got them back, now there is one detail that is important.
I do not know what day they actually got here because today as I was pulling up weeds I found a heavy box sitting around the front side of the house. Whenever we have a new delivery man or fedex they put the package on the front side. Even though it is the front of the house as compared to the road it is the back of the house for us. Our driveway leads to a parking lot that is on the backside of the house and generally most people recognize that the main entrance is facing away from the road.
So when i found the box and asked my mom what it is was and she replied that she didnt know a feeling of dread came over me. The box was just about to fall apart from being in the rain. It has rained almost everyday for 2 almost 3 weeks, and the ink from the tag was completely washed away and just generally looked like it had been rained on (very hard).
I had my bali-song with me because I had just read something interesting about them and opened it quickly and dumped the box out in the yard.
It was my four knives back from CO.
I opened up my Salt1 because i knew it would be fine then used it to open the rest of them. They were packaged in bubble wrap and secured with tape and there was another catalog plus the supplement as well as a warranty price list and an ad for their bali-yo (which I am actually thinking about getting. I would already have one if they had one in stainless steel, but i digress).
Ive inspected them all and they are all sharp without a single spot of rust.
I would say that it the packaging protected them and im sure it did but the catalog and box clearly had been saturated and dried out possibly several times.
Spyderco Great Job! Your knives survived out in the wilderness for several days before the package was found.
I was worried about having $240 worth of knives in the mail. These four knives are a big part of my edc rotation and have been carried for at least one year if not two. Im glad to have them back.
