I have seen a trend lately for knife manufacturers to take an existing design and update it with the latest and greatest materials. Most notably recently have been the Leek updates by Kershaw and the Military updates by Spyderco. This trend has gotten me thinking about what knife I would like to see updated and to see what you guys/girls would like to see updated.

I would like to see Kershaw update the Boa. The Boa has been one of my favorite designs since it came out. I would like to see the Boa with textured G-10 handles and a satin finished blade. The blade steel could remain the same old s60v, they already have the satin finish version in the Boa splash. I think this change to the Boa would not change the price all that much due to it only being a handle material change. They could even offer the G-10 in multiple colors. I really like the textured G-10 handles on the Leek and this would give the Boa a whole new feel and a much more positive grip.

What does everyone think? What would you like to see from your favorite knife makers?

I'd say the griptilian in better blade steels than the original 440C, but that's been done three times!

The new Grips for 2006 have an upgraded blade steel, 154CM.

I don't have the 154cm version, I have the s30v and 440c ones. I love how the 440c holds up. Does anyone know if there's a big difference between the 440c and the 154cm? Is the 154cm noticably better and in what ways?

There shouldn't be any huge difference between them. There's no driving need to go replace your 440C one, anyway. I think a lot of people won't tell the difference.

As per the Boa, I rather like the aluminum handles.
I would like to see the Mini Mojo in 440C or sandvik or whatever they want that isn't 440A. Suggested this a few months ago and man did I get an earful. I guess that's never going to happen...

A lot of CRKT knives should go to AUS8 or VG10...I've played with a few different ones recently and I really thought they had great F&F and design, but in AUS6....I'll save my 50 bucks.

I think a ton of Benchmade's lineup needs to go to S30V or their carbon steels. They've got a lot of knives that are over a hundred dollars using their "base" steel....whereas I can get an S30V from Spyderco for 45 and S30V and g10 for 80 from Kershaw...

I don't currently have a Grip in any version but for an everyday user I don't think you will see any difference between the 440C and the 154CM as far as edge retention and stain resistance. Benchmade does a very good job with 440C and I don't have any problem with my Benchmade 805 TSEK in 440C steel.

I guess with the ZDP frenzy going on, I wouldn't mind the Spec Bump in ZDP-189 Steel UNCOATED with the current 3-D G-10 handles.

Or better yet, a premium steel Kershaw Blur with a SpeedSafe Flipper, and Framelock Titanium handle.

Agreed, also a high end JYDawg, Offset with G10 handles and satin fn. blade. I am also thinking about a Buck special in chipflint and a Buck 110 in satin S30V (not the current Alaskan Guide).

+1 on that S30V 110--without the lettering that the Cabela's model has. I'd also like to see a Spyderco Police with a four position clip option and the return of the lanyard hole.

I'd like to see a Ritter version of a BM710. Keep the recurve, though.

And, how 'bout a Skirmish frame with an 806 blade (scaled to size).

How about an AXIS lock Skirmish?
