I was cleaning some knives last night and I had to share my thoughts. When I first started collecting knives, I started with CRKT. I bought up every model I could get my hands on. Then I went to Kershaw, Benchmade, Spyderco, Etc. I went on to accumulate these knives in mass quantities for some time. I them moved onto CRK, Microtechs and Customs. At this point I sold off darn near every CRKT, Most BMs, over half of my Spydercos, Etc to buy up allot of MTs. This is where I am at now.

Well last night when I was cleaning some of my knives, I realized that even though I carry a Lrg. Sebbie everyday, I have “The One” the whole time sitting in my knife roll. That’s right, I have found the one. The knife fits in the hand like a glove, has a perfect one hand opening mech., the blade shape is perfect, and the knife is thin, light and the perfect size for me. I really can’t think of a better knife. Honestly!!!

Even though I found the one, I will continue on the course I am on now and work my way up the ladder to Mayo’s, Carson’s, etc.. But I am thinking that this knife can’t be topped. Even though I bought TWO of these in a package deal on the forums.(one serrated and one plain edge) for less than $80 for BOTH!!

Oh yeah, the knife?? A Spyderco JD Smith

;)

The "one" for me is my stainless fully-serrated VG-10 Police model.

I've always had a soft spot from my SS/PE Rookie. I must confess that it's not my EDC but the ergos are probably as good as any I have experienced.

Real hard to say which is THE ONE, but I find these in my pocket alot:

General everyday:

Military PE (yes Dann, used to be yours!)
G-10 Standard PE
Wegner - various
Older G-2 CE Progrip

Dressy:

Viele - sometimes PE sometimes SE
BM705
CF Delica PE

On Hand:

In my truck: Older FRN Mariner & Surefire G2

BTW, I picked up a nice SE JD Smith with ATS34 and the number "111"
Bought on closeout at my dealer. I'm kinda looking for a PE

TBG,

That's really neat, I have been interested in the design of the JD Smith for some time now although I don't own one yet. After reading this I'm going to start actively pursuing one.

Thanks, Jeff/1911.
