Like some Victorinox models, where the serrations are on the front 2/3 or so of the blade and the remainder is straight edged. I like this set up, and don't understand why more makers don't do it. So, I have two questions;

Who makes them? I'm looking for production models only please.

Why don't more people do this?

Thanks

Serrated blades are not popular to begin with. They seem to be well liked in highly specialized areas from what it seen on forums and based on marketing. Combo blades with partial sesrrations are even less popular, they don't seem to offer enugh of either blade style to please a majority of either camp. Uncertainty in the market and lack of solid interest would be my guess why there are not more blades like that.

Victorinox is the only company I can think of off the top of my head that has serrations like that. :o

check out the TOPS tactical steak knife...horrible name...but a decent knife. It has the front portion serrated or you can get a plain edge version as well

That's not exactly right. It has 5 scallops that don't extend to the tip of the edge. I'm not sure that even qualifies as anything other than a novelty :-/

The Boker Direkt is the only one that I know of:

Im not sure either...i got the plain edge model:)...I just know they make one... sorry for the mislead ;)

Don't get me wrong, I like it, I just wish the serrations were a little more aggressive. Maybe it's just the photo though... I may give that one a try

Dekz, do you know if that boker direct comes in a non-serrated blade? That's would be a mighty fine looking folder if it did...

I had serrated blades...normally,....until I got the Trekker. I love how useful it is, and how it stays sharp over time.

Ooh, that's almost perfect (for me). If it didn't have the "normal) serrations, and the scallops on the forward portion of the blade wrapped around to the main edge, basically to where the other ones start (they would be gone) I would have one on the way to me right now.

Thanks though, seriously.

Yeah the "normal" serrations present on that one were why I didn't mention that model. It's a nice knife for the money, but doesn't quite fit your criteria.
