Reversing the clip on a waved model

After working with the weak-side, forward edge of the pocket wave opening technique, I now would like to try this from the right hand pocket. I'd use a reverse/drawpoint type grip, traversing up and forward.

All I need is the clip reversed on a RH CQC-7 waved. The clip screw holes are tapped thru the liner on the 'normal' side. What would say are the ramafications of tapping holes on the opposite liner? No harm if done with skill, or not a real good idea?

Friends and I have had this done several times to make "Left Handed" folder. Several Commanders, BMs, Spydercos, ect. On the non-EKI knives, we have them changed over to "Tip-up Correct" as well.

Any machine shop should be able to do it up in no time. Usually costs about $10 - $15

This is a good idea in general, but especially for Police Officers or if there are alot of "Wilding" types of Multiple Attackers in your area that like to stomp people to death. Usually one will enter to take you down, especially if you do not give them your back [predatory behavior, they shoot for the back, common sense too].

Because in reverse grip, the Grappler dies. It is very difficult to thrust someone in the back from forward grip, you can get hooking blows into the side of the ribcage, but they will not be as fast. You want them "getting the idea" on the way to the ground so hopefully they roll the hell off of you or break contact immediately.

Anyone that does not believe this, go into your kitchen and ball your fist up and see how many times you can pound on the kitchen table in a second and a half. you can literally hit someone six times a second with very little practice.

Terrible thing to talk about, but that's reality. You ever see the videotape of the Officer killed in Texas during that traffic stop? There is no need to critique him, Monday Morning Quartbacks are always rosey and bright. The point is [pardon the pun] is that when things really turn nasty, you need to use everything you have to survive.

This is where the "Knifefighting Purists" literally lose it and begin to froth at the mouth...

But we're not talking about "Knifefighting," anymore than when someone comes after you with a razor knife and you pull a gun on them, that conflict is not "knifefight" nor "gunfight." It is Combat.

We're talking about the Tactical use of an Edged Weapon.

And, although you might have to defend against an Edged Weapon with your own, you are more likely to be confronted with Multiple Attackers or people armed with other weapons...that negates all the critiques of reverse grip.

Don,

One of the best replies I've seen so far.

Probably will upset many who subscribe to one particular form of 'fighting' or another, but I agree totally with you. If you're in a life or death struggle, whatever weapon is used, it's combat at it's most brutal.

When in that situation, you do whatever is necessary to win and go home at the end of your shift.

If you're not cheating, you're not trying ! :D

There is alot of prejudice against even the lawful use of an Edged Weapon. I don't know what miracle is going to happen to change that. But I know from prior experience that when faced with even two men, you are in a bad, bad place. [This goes back to life not being a Steven Seagal movie].

When you have more than two...I don't even want to talk about it, it's just bad, numbers just keep making it worse.

Hell, it was two or three teenagers and a teenaged girl that stomped a man to death in East Baltimore last year. Even older kids/young adults are treacherous and no guarantee of survival.

It has been said that, "Age and treachery beat youth and inexperience."

That's true, but most of the older folks that applies to had a really sharp knife or something like a S&W Chief's Special in their pocket. :D

I know in some States here, this is a pipedream, but...

I wish the Courts would recognize the preemptive strike as legitimate Self-defense. The reason for that is, if someone is stupid enough to say, "Hey, I'm going to cut your throat..." Or "Stomp your head in..." They deserve that they get for conducting themselves in that manner. You should not have to wait for them to try, you're not doing anything wrong.

Also, I would like to see Lethal Force against Multiple Attackers totally legitimized even when they are unarmed, because the disparity of force is such that it is a lethal attack. Now, you may or may not win in Court right now with that defense, depends on the exact circumstances and area...but I would like to see it become a standard. People have no business doing these sorts of things. And this has everything to do with Edged Weapons. And every other weapon as well.
