Reverting back to old packaging?

Greetings!

I've purchased two very recent CRK knives in the past couple weeks (manufactured July 1 and July 26, 2016). Both have come in the old school box (wrapped in the blue cloth) instead of the newer style box with foam insert. I contacted the vendor I purchased from and they said all of their recent shipments from CRK have come packaged this way. They weren't exactly sure why.

Anyone know if this is a permanent change?

My collection is about 50/50. I love the solidity of the old box, but my OCD really hates the bent paperwork. I've resorted to storing it all separately in a flat box. 😀

Old school is the short boxes with tissue paper. ;)
 
Love the older cardboard boxes. The ones from the past couple of years sucked. They tore up too easily.

Agree, and FWIW (not much) I like the shape and the way the knives store in the old boxes better. Color me dino. ;)
