Review Brett Bennett(Kaos Kaos271) Wharncliffe

A few months back I started hearing folks on the Forums talking about Brett and the knives he was doing. I was a tad interested, but passed on by. A few weeks later I was hanging on the BFC IRC room and here comes Brett and we start talkin' and we work out a deal for a knife, Wharncliffe, African Blackwood handles, Mokume Bolsters, Mosaic pins, something like this:

Needless to say I was happy, esp. when he mentioned the price (very reasonable)! So a date was discussed and I left him to it (read harrassed him every chance I got for pix and how it was coming ;-) )

So it was to be at my place for my birthday, when Richard_T (Richard Todd) chimes in and says hey send it my way first and I will take a few digital pix for ya. For your birthday . . . FREE! Well, so it went to Rich, this is what I ordered from Rich pic wise:

Well I WANTED it shown off! ;-) This is what Rich wanted to do with it :

So bottom line I got the knife yesterday, and all I can say fit and finish is great! The blade is polised to where I can see my reflection in it! The mokume is also mirror bright, the knife just molds to your hand, I am pleased.

Ever had a knife that you didn't want to touch or handle because you are afraid you will do something to spoil the perfection? This is one such knife.

This is a great knife, anyone who want a reasonably priced great handmade/custom knife needs to contact Brett. bc271@altavista.com

You won't be sorry you did!

Very nice. Does Mr. Bennett have a web site?

Thanks,
Tom

Paul,

Thanks for the review and I am glad you are enjoying the knife.

The blade is 1/8" ATS-34 hardened to 59-60 RC by Rob Simonich. The blade is approximately 3 5/8" and overall length is 8 1/4". I don't have a website yet, but I do have a few more pictures at http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=1390061&a=10375047 .
I will be at the Blade Show this year (no table), but I will have one knife with me for show and tell. If you are going, perhaps I will see you there.

Tom,
Please call me Brett. Only telemarketers call me Mr.

And I may be also carrying some of Brett's work as soon as he gets around to making some more ;-)

Brett you are welcome, have a good time at Blade, wish I could attend.
