Hi all. Just got my Titanium handled M16-13T. It is nothing short of awesome. I was in the BX on Andrews AFB the other day and of course I gotta see what kind of knives they have. Usually there are Spydie Delica, Endura, Gerber tools, Air Rangers. Leatherman tools of all sorts, and some Shcrades'. This time there was something different though. Blister packs with CRKT Ti handled M16s'. Not only that. They were only $58.00! That's right. No tax either. Gotta love the Military! Anywho I immediately grabbed one. It is the same size as the other M16-13s' however it had Ti handles (obviously Duhh).

The fit and finish is just great. The handles are sculpted very nicely with no sharp edges. They are a dull grey Ti color but otherwise look just as thier aluminum couterparts of the other models. The back spacer is aluminium 6061 I believe. LAWKS come standard of course. The spear point blade is perfectly centered and the action is super smooth. The blade is lightly beadblasted like other M16s'. It was very, very sharp out of the box. This knife is lighter than the other M16s' I have held. Personnaly I don't know how CRKT is able to keep the price so low on these knives. I would definately have paid $125.00 for this knife if that was the price. CRKT, please don't get any funny ideas!
After carrying this knife for 2 days, I can report that it is a joy to lug around. You don't even know it's there till you need it. That's great news for a medium size knife. In closing I would recommend this knife to anyone. It is a great find. :D

I've had my eye on the Ti handle version of the M-16 but they are big bucks here in the States. Great buy! I think the M-16 series is on of the best production knives going CRKT really hit it with that one!

Question? Is the blade chisel ground or is it sharpened on both sides. My friend bought an olde CRKT M-16 and its different from mine in the edge. His is chisel ground flat on on side sharp on the other like an Emerson.

Stay Safe!

i agree... damn they look good! the M16 serious is nothing short of awesome. ambidextrous, slim, lightweight design, feels good just to hold one! ;)

how much does the Ti ones weigh? compared to say the Zytel models?

To answer your questions the blade is AUS-8 and it is only sharpened on one side however it is not a chisle per-se. It is slightly beveled on the reverse side but not sharpened. It's like Emerson's double Vee grind. I can't believe CRKT is able to sell this knife for this price. The BX raised the price to $59.00 this week, however that's still cheaper than anywhere else I have seen it. If anyone lives in the MD, DC area and wants one let me know if you are having trouble finding one.

These are also available at Ft. Benning for $59.95 the last two months. There are three on the rack until tomorrow -

Too bad it only comes in combo edge. I would love to get my hands on one if it came in plain edge.

I miss the days of buying knives at the bx!!!

When I got out the best they sold were the old benchmade zytel afck!!

.....hmmm to dream of the money you can save there!!!

I remember once I bought (years ago) a mgc skinner in stag and payed 24 dollars for it!!! and also when you could by the western boot knives (with rosewood) for about 19 dollars.

Anyone know a cheap spot to get titanium CRKT M-16's? Either online or around Portland, Oregon.

Thanks

Thanks for the review, I have always loved the M16 design, and titanium handles just make it that much better. The only drawback for me is that you can't get the titanium handled version with a plain edge, I am not a fan of serrated edges, oh well, it's still a great knife.

I think it's time I get hold of one of those M16-13T, instead of reading about it all the time! :D ;)

just picked this one up at sportsman's warehouse, and yes there is one somewhere around Portland, OR. I have to go into Tri-cities WA to get to one, but they had a nice selection of CRKT blades, both fixed and folders. I like the fit and feel of the knife. now to see how it performs :)

Holy crap, talk about bringing up a post from the past. I was freaked out when I saw that one. LOL Glad you like the knife.

knew it was a good blade, but was looking for info on it after I bought it. hence the post here. ;)
