At the request of Brian Evans, I submit my first impressions and a little hands-on review of the Evans Knife & Tool Companion knife. I have not received any compensation for this; Brian’s only request was that I do an honest review. And so I shall …
The Companion is a small fixed blade (2-7/8” edge, 3” tip to handle, 6” overall), of S35VN steel. It is a skeletonized full tang construction, with G-10 slabs attached by Corby bolts. It comes nicely boxed with a Kydex sheath, and a little keychain wedgie/prychunk/steel fingernail, sporting the Evans K&T logo. The knife is quite reasonably priced, especially for S35VN, and there are a number of different colored G-10 handle slabs that can be purchased as add-ons, as well as a carbon fiber set, all priced fairly.

This is my first-ever knife review, and I’m kinda wingin’ it … so before you fire up the flames, this is by no means presented as a scientific hands-on test, it is merely my impressions of the knife, along with a few little chores I used it for, and my assessment of how it handled those. Totally subjective …

Presentation:
As I mentioned, the knife comes in a very classy little box, with foam inserts cut to fit the knife, sheath, and prychunk. A very nice little presentation that gives a favorable impression right from the start.
Another aspect that plays into presentation, IMO, is the great communications and service to the customer that Brian puts forth immediately. He was very responsive to my constantly changing order, and his actions and responsiveness made it clear to me that his customers are his main focus. This is very important to me; in my experience, customer service is a great barometer for how invested a maker is in his work.

Out of the gate and you're already a pro at reviews........................even though it's just the box

Thanks, Phaint … at first I had planned to add a TekLock and wear it on my belt, but after seeing the size I realized that it will vanish in a back pocket and is pretty flat, so for now, that's how I'm carrying it. This is the first little fixed blade that lends it itself (for me) to actual EDC, as I am in an office / computer lab environment every day. Also I discovered that in jeans it will fit in the change pocket and cant to the rear at a slight angle, keeping it both out of the way and quite handy … probably look a little weird with a tuck in shirt but with a tee shirt or sweatshirt worn untucked, you won't even see it …

Can you tell I like this thing?

I work in a similar environment and have also been able to edc this effortlessly as well. For me I carry it in the side pocket of my carpenter jeans along with my cell phone. Both fit very comfortably like this.
