I recently received my farm knife and absolutely love it.

I love my CAK because I can hack through anything.

BUT ----

This farm knife is THE tool to do all the light cutting effortlessly. Don't misunderstand me though --- you could probably chop down a redwood with this thing if you had to, but its got such great control and a lightness that lends itself to precision work in a very great way.

My farm knife looks a little different than the others I've seen, but I absolutely love it. The blade seems a little straighter, and Tirtha just went a little different direction with the handle. It's fantastic! I think the somewhat straighter blade improves its usage for many chopping jobs.

You need one of these . . .

Wowsa! It's a Farmcata :D Love the handle shape on that one. Also, the wood on yours has a lot of personality.

Congrats, they do rock, don't they:D

LOL . . . Steely Gunz . . . It has a Falcata-like handle and I almost mentioned that, but you have coined an entirely new and far more awesome term

FARMCATA!

LOL

Seriously --- It's simply indispensable!

Nice "farmcata" indeed! Congratulations!

Do you have any specs to share yet and compare with the usual VFK (e.g., mine comes in at 16.5" OAL, 11" blade, 3/8" spine, and 28.5oz).

Great to see this variant. Does that hilt area give you any problems during use?

It does not. I think it works well because:

(1) The handle is long and my hand can stay at the back of the knife for greater leverage, and

(2) Even when my hand is at the front, my finger gently wedges into it and seems to offer me some good control.

So far I haven't wished the hilt to be different than it is . . .

Farmcata ideed! The blade resembles a short Chinese war sword. That and the Falcata handle make It look like a serious close range weapon. What a unique variation. This is a neat thing about HI. I have Tirtha and Murali WWIIs. Tirtha has a long handle with a pronounced bellied 3/8 inch blade. Murali has a short handle with a pointy 1/2 inch thick blade. Two totally different khuks, but both wonderful. Handmade craftsmanship and individual interpretation. I've really come to enjoy this about HI. That's a beautiful Farmcata! Thanks for showing.

That's a heck of a knife! You guys are making it impossible to resist these FK's!

Farm knife was hard to resist; this Farmcata looks to be damn near impossible. A real beauty! I managed to reason myself out of a Falcata due to having no possible use for it other than as a safe queen, this is truly the perfect compromise.

+ 1 ... I like this much, much more than the standard farm knife and would get one if I was quick enough to beat all its other admirers!

Way to go HI !

I like how the forge scale effectively makes a "sword of Shiva".

I'm also noticing how bgz101 is keeping mum about how exactly he came to own this knife...;)

And he won't give any specs. But that's OK. At least he got a very special, one of a kind (for now at least) blade. Congratulations bgz101. It looks like a great tool and I'm glad you like it.
