I've reviewed a few of the Kabar / Dozier Folding Hunters, and now it's time for my newest one: the 4062. Which is, technically, the oldest one available. As with the others, the price is a lot less than what you might expect.

Specifications
Handle: The handle is 4" long, and is one-piece black Zytel. It has an aggressive diamond texture to it. Both sides of the handle have the Kabat logo inside a circle, in the middle of the handle. There are no liners. There's a lanyard hole in the butt. The clip is located on the butt of the knife (tip up). It's blackened, and is adjustable for left or right-handed use. But it's tip-up only. It's removed via Torx (T-8) bit. The knife locks open via lockback, positioned in the middle of the handle. The blade pivot is adjustable, and is also black. It uses a Torx (T-8) bit for adjustment.
Blade: The blade on the 4062 is 3" long and made of AUS-8, and is 56-58 Rc. It's a hollow grind. The tip ends in a skinning / spear point. The back .8" of the blade has thumb grooves for traction. The thumb stud is adjustable via Torx (T-6) bit, and covers only one side of the blade. Both the blade and thumb stud have a satin finish.

Using the Knife
The blade style lends very well to hunting use (it is, afterall, a hunting knife) and general utility. I used the 4062 to open cardboard boxes, slice bacon and sausage for breakfast, and some small outdoor work. The blade made quick work of whittling fuzz sticks, and the back was very good for striking a flint for fire (with the knife closed, of course). After about a week of use, the 4062 required a very minor touch-up.

Final Impressions
This thing only costs $20 US, which is far more than it's worth. I love these little pieces. It's made in Taiwan like the rest. I know that bothers some people. I'm happy to add it to my collection of users.

Nice review, I have the same model and it is quite good for twenty bucks. The clip is a bit cheesy but that's about it.

good review JNieporte, I concur.... great inexpensive folder that I rank up there with my Byrds and Boker Subcomfolders/Trances....a lotta knife for the $...

I know it is a personal preference thing, but I like the KaBar Dozier designs better than any of the others mentioned in that price/performance range. YMMV! But those KaBar Doziers sure make a good EDC.

Thanks for the review!
