Just bought me a new Leatherman Expanse e33b. I have always enjoyed Leatherman multitool so I figuerd I should try out their knives.

e33b has got a large blade (154 CM), carbine holder/bottle opener and a bit-holder and two bits.

The previously version of this knife was e306X (wich I bought and returned) and Expanse is a vast improvement over that knife. The Expanse is suprisingly compact and you won´t even notice there is a bit-holder in the knife. The e306X was bulky and heavy and the bit storage added even more bulk. That knife was also pretty lose, one handle moved with a clicking sound everytime you opened the knife.

Not so with Expanse. It´s rock-solid, no bladeplay what so ever! And it´s very light, 106 g, 3,75 oz (e306X 118g, 4.2 oz).

The blade is sharp and the Blade Launcher has been redesigned. Now you won´t need to flick your wrist when opening the blade. It flies open much easier now. Nice to have really good steel in the blade as well.
The linear lock seemes to be stronger than bfore. It feels a bit safer.
The bit-holder is pretty similar to the old ones, just a tad thinner. The bit-holder won´t lock, it´s secured by a back spring.
The carbiner clip seemes to be the same as the old one.

This is a real nice knife-tool combo wich disapeares in your pocket. There is a removable pocket clip if you like such things.

Now to the bad stuff. The knife isn´t exactly beautiful. And it´s not very comfortable in your hand. It´s got some sharp edges that could dig into your hand. The pocket clip, the small and pointy bit-holder-opener plus the small and pointy carbiner-opener isn´t very nice to your hand when you put some pressaure on it.

But all in all, it´s a nice knife that will be my EDC for long time (yeah, right). It´s a big improvemet over the e306X and I can´t wait on the next generation of this knife.
