Greetings all,

I spend as much time here as anywhere else, so...saw this last night. Took Dad for a slightly belated Father's Day.

I had very high expectations for the movie. IMHO, it was a very solid 'Pretty Good' but not 'MindBlowing Great' As I say, I give it about a 7 out of 10. Probably better to catch on the big screen IMHO. Some very good special effects. But I'd caveat that with probably best to not take the really little ones (I'd say no younger than 9-10 years old, depending on the kid).

I will say it is by far the most 'ambitious' Superman we've seen, a very complex storyline/plot with some very new spins Superman's origins, the destruction of his home planet, etc.

I thought Cavill (Superman) was well cast, both for physical presence as well as talent. Cosner, Adams, Lane, Fishburne and others we all pretty good as well. The only character I thought was a little stiff was Zod (Shannon), but it is also part of his character (you'll see what I mean if you catch the movie).

In any event, worth catching...

Now Johnny Depp as Tonto, never saw that one coming...

Cheers,
BOSS

I liked it a lot. Fight scenes were awesome. I'll be getting it when it comes out on dvd for sure.

I've heard nothing but good reviews for Man of Steel, I have yet to see it, but I think that it will be the next movie that I go watch. Thanks for the review.

I'm looking forward to seeing The Lone Ranger as well, only for the fact that Johnny Depp is playing Tanto:cool:

I will go see it with you Lora!! I definitely want to see the new Superman and The Lone Ranger. Anything with Johnny Depp in it, I will not fight you :D He is a great actor.

I've seen it twice. I really enjoy it. The action was great as were the effects. Cavill was really good as the Man of Steel and I thought Russel Crowe's performance as Jor-El was great. Michael Shannon was also good a General Zod imo. The only casting I didn't care too much for was Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Nothing against Adams herself because I think she's a good actress but she just doesn't have the sex appeal as comic Lois. She looks too nice and because I remember her most in Enchanted, I halfway expected her to break out in song at some point in the movie. My another little nitpick is I felt the whole romance between Kal and Lois felt rushed and often forced at times. I blame the script on that though, not the actors. Overall I did enjoy the movie and all my nitpicks are small. I personally give MoS a solid 9/10. Now bring on Justice League.

My wife and I went to see it last weekend. It was a complete waste of money because we were hammered when we saw it, so I will go see it again tomorrow afternoon when I get up.

Johnny Depp also has his looks going for him. He is definitely a talented man. We have to go see these movies :D

Hahaha watching movies while hammered. . . so much fun

It is, however, not the best way to see a movie that you are really looking forward to seeing. I tend to remember less when I've been drinking, or is it just that I pay much less attention, I can never remember. :D

I remember most of the big action scenes, but as far as any meaningful dialogue......not so much.

This happens quite often, but it usually STARTS at the movies ( we sneak it in ). This time we had just come back from a poker run and we were already primed.
