Just received from our good friend (non BF dealer member reference removed), the new #77 Yankee Jack. My knife came in the new sunbrite acrylic. This knife glows in the dark like the nifebrite, but it has much more color in the light. The color is darker than canary, and lighter than gold. Overall a very pleasing color.....much more so, IMO, than the nifebrite. This color changes a bit....when in bright light, it is more transluscent, but in natural light is much darker...a sort of gold color. Interesting.

I can compare it a bit to the recent Washington 77, which I recently bought. The pull is about a 5, where the washington is a 6, and my #78 Am. Jack is a 7. I was very pleased to find that this knife is already quite sharp (yes, it IS a GEC) out of the box. The knife is pretty slim for a jack knife.....rides well in the pocket. Fit and finish is about what you'd expect in a GEC,,,,excellent. I did go ahead and wash it and blow it out before oiling it. I do this with all my GECs and it definitely smooths out the mechanism. Amazing how much dirt and metal shavings are in a knife that looks brand new.

If there is any criticism in this knife, it is that the pen, which is very usable, is on the backside of the knife, so I have to use my left hand to open the pen. I'm sure there are folks who prefer this, but I am not one of them.

Overall, a terrific knife, with a surprisingly terrific handle material. I'd say, if you did not get in on the 77 Washington, or the 77 Barlow, and you're looking for a good usable EDC. This knife is certainly worth considering.

I'm interested in one of these so thank you for the review, the colour is particularly attractive. I would probably be more set on a single-blade if it were available.

Regards, Will

Thanks for the review, if I hadn't spent a fortune on 77 barlows and jacks I would definitely of gotten one of these. Still might if I can find one after the holidays.
