Review of Godspeed! BK16 Kydex Sheath (Foldover)

I promised a fair and honest review upon recieving this new sheath, so here it is:

Godspeeds Kydex is ridiculously well done. Easily the best kydex sheath I have ever owned. Perfect retention. Perfectly symmetrical. Perfect edges. Good, thick kydex (this is the key...the thin black stuff I used to mess with just doesn't cut it.) There's going to be no need for a heat gun to tighten this baby up. The thumb push is perfection in a can. It's like he snuck in my house while I was sleeping and took a mold of my thumb. I hope he didn't...that would be weird.

The sheath itself is perfect. I'm not sold on tekloks. Going to talk to him about an option to drop it down. If you like horizontal teklok stuff, the teklock is perfect with it. The teklok in the vertical position on a belt puts the knife a little too high and close to your side. I prefer it horizontal. If you want it to sit vertically, talk to him about it. I've seen pics of other sheaths he's done where he can lower it. I chose to go simple for this one, since I didn't know how I was going to use it just yet.

In short...he's got mad skills. I would personally guarentee anyone getting one of his sheaths is not going to be disappointed! Especially at the prices he's asking.

Pics you say?

(I put the little mark on the sheath....)

(I am thinking of putting some pink duracoat here.....would be a good add on option for customers! :D (how do I put this genie back in the bottle?)

That's a well-done sheath. Looks good and solid. We have some of the greatest kydex benders out there in the Becker forum.

Pink duracoat for what? Hot pink kydex is ALREADY availible. But all crap aside, thats an awesome sheath, the edges are perfectly sanded off aswell.

Well....you see....Grown ups that like each other have a special kind of "hug".....hmmmm....how do I say this? Oh yeah! Godspeed! Kydex is AWESOME.

Don't worry about it, Cam. You'll understand in a few years. And no, I'm not going to explain. :D

I think I'm going to get one of his mini-bic holders and add it on, and also get the drop attachments too so I can wear it more comfortably in the vertical side position. Now all I need to do is buy my new BK9 and win a BK14 and get him started on the MOAS-1 (Mother of all Sheaths). Hopefully I can get a Batman grappling hook in there too.

I'm betting all future review sheaths will be basic black. TECHNICALLY, some "parts" in this optical illusion are in reverse.

What a can of worms I've opened up. Sorry Godspeed! Love the sheath!

Got one of his sheaths and I love it. Been using it for a week or so now and it has not dissapointed. I remember when I first got my 14 I thought 'Hey, this sheath isn't so bad'. Then within two days it was rattling around in there like lungs with bronchitis. Definitely not an issue with my Godspeed!

Looks like an awesome sheath. I've been wanting to get one to carry my bk16 scout style. Thanks for the review!

This will do it. I don't remember if I said it, but it will always work more securely with a tactical/riggers belt. For those that prefer traditional style, don't forget he's making these too:

I probably would have gone with the above had I known the teklok rides the way it does vertically. But oh well. It's probably going to replace the MKI on my Condor II waist strap, where I used to have the BK2 mounted scout style anyway. I'm getting back to where I have too many knives, and cant decide how to carry them. I'm wondering if this will be too big as a piggyback....Or if it would work attached to a Godspeed! BK9 rig. Still playing around with setups. All I know is the sheath is perfect....it's figuring out where I want it thats hard.

I think I'm going to get some molle locks for it too....might work better on a normal leather belt, and more snug on the back. Yep...Molle Locks, extra chicago screws, a mini bic holder, and a drop down attachment is in order. As soon as he gets back I'll send him some $$$ and when I get other attachments I'll continue to review on the options. Oh yeah...just remembered that you can get chicago screw rubber IWB loops too....that might work really well too!

Where'd Godspeed get those molle backs from? I've been looking for something simmilar.

Very nice review. Thanks for the write up. Godspeed has my sykco 511 right now and he's making a taco sheath with a kydex dangler for it.

I feel the same way as you about the tek lok for vertical belt carry. That's why I opted for the dangler.

Just checked....the Teklok fits perfectly on the molle loops on my Maxped Pack. So I can keep it on there and transfer the knife from the stock sheath to that sheath if I have my pack on (hard to access belt sheaths while wearing the pack, but a scout sheath on the pack works perfect.) So I found the perfect use for it....at least till I get different attachments.

that thing looks great. they all do.
Though personally I think the large tech-lock is too big for a tweener. You could get a mini and drill one extra hole so you'd have the option for either.
