Eyes on...everyone.....please relax....
Both are fabulous tool knives....
I choose not to bore you with the details of frivilous use, such as angle holds, cutting phone books, steel hardness, open close complexities, and the like.....I'll just tell you what a 54 year old man handling knives to butcher, skin and harvest meat...what a tool is and isn't.
First off: lets toss price or cost aside.
In Hand: Kershaw 1596 vs. Chris Reeve Sebenza 21 Large
The Kershaw falls into your palm and stays there irrelevant of the angle of use.
Under pressure in cutting, stabbing or holding it remains calm in hand. The handle and grip are weapons comfy,
Immediate open close, left or right handed. Easy top press assisted opening, simple, perfect each time.
I ponder a more positive and or immediate extend of a blade.
Sebenza: Better order the extra and $35 thumb stud. And expect a break in period as they come TIGht from factory. Difficult flip open. Known to be delivered this way. Vault tightness has an expected break in period....
Titanium handles warm to your hand almost immediately. After a short lesson your hand learns the open/close of this knife.
After ten minutes of use in various positions, the Kershaw feels very comfortable as from the beginning. The Reeve's angular handle is not near as comfortable after a time in hand. Winner easily is the 1596.
Your mileage may vary. Then again how many CRK's are roaded.
I am not biased in any way.
Love them both, as I own both,
A knife is a tool with which to cut.
A knife holds a blade with which we cut with.
Oddly and ultimately it is the blade which delves and defines our need for such tools..
However if you have read this far....I wish to have one of each in the bush..
And the Kershaw 1596 is a hell of a knife.....
