Well, received the following khukris from, Bill, and I must admit that I was blown away. All of them we of top notch quality.

Kumar Kobra - feels like a snake in the hand, very quick and deadly. Cut through some cardboard and it went through it like a hot knife through butter. I am 6' 7" and I really but some snap into it, and it cut very quickly and cleanly.

20" Sirupati - different feel that the Kobra, but still light in the hand - will probably be my main carry. Cut through the cardboard and some plant/weed material and small saplings with contempt....

16.5 Chirwa AK - definition of perfect balance and heftiness, cut through some saplings. Will be on my hip if I leave the Sirupati at home.

AK Bowie(s) - Got two, and they are immense for a Trout and Bird knife. Will be put in my car and one put away in a safety deposit box, for a 20 year rest, then come out and play...

Overall, very nice knives from the greatest company....

PS, I can not wait for my M-43 to get here from VC Canada...

You went and bought all the big knives :) I guess at 6'7" the added weight is not a problem.

About 12 to 18 months ago, went crazy and got the 25 inch Kobra and Sirupati, and even a 30", and those were nice, but too big, even for me too handle very effectively. I have found out that the 20" (Kobra and Sirupati) fits my build and size. I can tell that the quality has improved from about 12 months ago - I am continually amazed at the work they are putting out.

Also, the handles fit my hand perfectly, the 16.5" AK is a little tight, but the others are dead on.

OOOPS - Calling the AK Bowie a Trout and Bird knife was supposed to be done tongue-in-cheek!:o

A man who's 6'7" using a 20" Sirupati as a main carry knife.Now that's an intimidating image.

That's why God made the Glock 21. ;)

...I guess it all depends on where you grow your birds.

Semper - I once agonized for weeks over whether to get a Glock 21 or an Officer's ACP. I compromised by getting a Glock 17.

And the ACP.

The Colt is a great weapon. I still have my 1911 from my Marine days.

But now I carry a Glock 19.

Like my American Express card, I never leave home with out it. I mostly plink with the 21. :)

Bowie3
Glad you like them BUT no M43!! I have to get one or two more "FOR RESEARCH"!Then maybe!! Wait until you start chopping with the AK!hee!
jim

Jim,

I should be getting my M-43 from a forum member, later this week or next week. I have heard great things about this model - I will let you know how I react to it...

Sorry got to disagree--that's why god made the semi-auto 12 gauge:eek: 6'7 and pissed off with a 20" blade, and I want to be darn sure my hits push him backward 5feet each time:D

By the way, no offense to Bowie:D Just realized I was talking about the best way to shoot you:eek: I meant a hypothetical 6'7 guy with a 20" knife:D

All I've got is my antique .38. The dust bunnies won't let me have any khukuris except in case of dire need.

Have you seen the new Sig 220 with a stainless steel fraimIt also has rails for a flashlight/laser.:)

Here's what you need Bowie: ;) :D :D :D

Yangdu Martino, holding the Janawar Katne. IIRC it weighs 8lbs!!!

I KNOW...I have been killed with the following:

A Glock 21, a Glock 19, and antique 38 with dust bunnies hanging onto the side, a semi-auto 12 guage with 4 shot, a semi-auto 12 gauge with 00 buckshot, and a SIG with a laser sight.

The world is changing, that it is not safe for a 6'7" person to carry a 20" Sirupati, I do not know what a person is to do. I could carry the 36" Buffalo killer, but what will you guys get me with - a LAWS rocket, an M-60 machine gun, or a 50 cal Barrett - I do not know....

Take care - I need time to think and reflect, upon my safety.

MauiRob, like you tag-line about a life being examined, very deep and very true.

Good stuff and thanks. I just noticed after several years that Yangdu looks a bit Samuraish in that picture.

Don't worry, Bowie 3. It's just such an automatic visceral response to the idea of a 6'7" guy with a "little" 20" in his hand. Kind of like the idea of hearing a riled rattlesnake behind you.

On the other hand I'm 5'4" and I'm known to swing a 30" Sirupati when I need my back straightened. Purely for chiropractic purposes. Some khonvention we'll have to pose standing next to each other.

You'd really like a tarwar. It'd be a singlehand for you.

By the way, welcome to the Cantina. Just stay seated a while so people can get usta ya. Otherwise the first time you stand up the place will empty out instantly.

( Hey Unc! Better get them Cantina windows replaced with plexiglas right away, hear? )
