The current 3V version is whispering to me...but I have so many fixed blades already, I'm looking to convince myself why I should add another. (I'm definitely weakening...especially since it carries the Demko name.)

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences with your own FreeReigns.

Here's a new video that Andrew and John Demko put out:

It has to be the best buy for a USA made 3V knife that also happens to be a great design, great ergos, great sheath…..oh- and a handle that will be awesome in cold/wet.

I don’t ‘need’ any, but plan to get more just because it is a great knife at a great price imo.

I have a Taiwan aus10 freereign and a usa made 3v version. different steels, same sheaths same handles. good knives. good size blade for general use. incredible sheath. it takes what the secure ex failed at and solves it. can take it apart and clean sand and grit out. that's a huge advantage down here. its all the sugar sand that gets in just from using it to cut anything thats covered in it....and even wind blowing it around, gets in the sheath.

I like my Carothers field knife and use it a lot, but this one is a near tie favorite.

see video above Blues posted...... Demkos doing tests like he used to at cold steel.......
Very impressive test results , and very rewarding to see that Demko is doing them again !:thumbsup::thumbsup:

However : I need another knife of this category , Like I need another random orifice . :p

Still , I'll be interested ,maybe someday, in a used one or crazy cheap sale price . ;)

I have a AUS10 and a Magnacut Free Reign and they are both excellent fixed blade knives! I actually want to pick up a 3V version as well. You can never have too many great knives!! On a side note, I love how Andrew tests this knife so nonchalantly...with a 3 pound steel mallet! LOL! Great stuff! These knives definitely deserve to wear the Demko name!

There are a few highly respected makers that take the time to demonstrate their knives in this way. I'm really happy to see Andrew and John producing these videos to show what their wares are capable of. Kudos to them.

FreeReign arrived yesterday. I agree with you all that it seems to be a bargain at the offered price. A very nice piece of work that appears to be ready for most any task.

Took off the drop loop and exchanged it for a Tek-Lok set up for horizontal carry.

The sheath is snugger than I'd like, but I'm getting used to it.

how many steels have we had in these free reigns both imports and domestics........so far?

aus10, magnacut, 3v...any others?

I'm really thinking of either the 3V or the Magnacut version. A bit more toughness or a bit more edge retention and lot more rust resistance (thought the 3V is good enough that I'm not worried at all about having my blade rust)?

I've only handled the AUS10 in store and haven't ever used one for anything so my desire is based purely on looks, and just handling.

I’ve personally never seen 3V rust. I have seen m390 rust though ( a Hinderer XM18 used to clean fish ). The big differences I notice with the 3V and Magnucut Freereign was the grind, Drop point vs Clip point. I’ve used about 6 or 7 different knives in magnucut at this point.. I’d still choose 3V any day.

*thinking about it .. I have seen 3V rust once - it was a fingerprint sized spot on a Reiff F5 gen 1

Curiosity about those FreeReign handles. Do they loosen up all wiggly like SRK handles do sometimes? That seems to be the only reason I don't have an SRK, and it's what keeps me away from the FreeReign.
