chorpie was nice enough to lend me his awhile back and i finally got to use it recently...thank you very much chorpie!

it's basically the top part of a camera tripod and you can mount your camera anywhere there's a flat 2-3" wide or so piece of webbing or belt where the base can clamp down on...here's peak design's site: https://peakdesignltd.com/capture.

what's inside the box:

the red button is what you press to let the camera/base slide out...and that knurled round knob you can turn to lock the camera/base in place...i never felt the need to use this knurled knob though.

loosen the two knobs enough until the clamp slides open.

slip the clamp on your backpack's shoulder strap, belt, etc.

...and re-tighten the two knobs.

the base screws into the usual tripod mount located underneath the camera...my only complaint is that once it's tightened down that metal flap is now hard to flip back up to un-screw it. i had to use something to pry it back up or use the included allen key to loosen it. no big deal, just another extra step and if you leave it there permanently then it's a non-issue...they might've already improved that design on the version 2 though.

then the camera slides right into the base...like any other camera tripod. this thing is awesome! i already took it on two day hikes and my dslr feels like it's not even there. very easy to grab my camera by the lens with my left hand, press the red button with my right hand and the camera slides right out.

like i said, i never felt the need to use the knurled knob to lock the camera in place since the camera's shoulder strap is still around my neck as a safety backup.

Hows it holding up for up? I am looking to pick one up soon and i am curious about the durability. And feedback would be appreciated!

i don't have it anymore. i borrowed it from chorpie only for a few weeks and returned it a few weeks ago...with that said, it's pretty beefy. except for the red parts (release button and base plate insert), everything is made of metal and is quite heavy.

the version 2 was already out when i had this loaner so i'm not sure what the differences are. report back if you can please.
