Just wanted to know who else had one and what you thought about it. I have the 10" smachete with the hand guard. I moved out of the rural area where I grew up and haven't really used it much since.

I have 3 knives from the Eight Dollar Mtn. Foundry, not a long drive into the hills here from Medford, OR. Excellent heavy duty scabbards and blades that, IMHO hold a fine edge, and are very easy to touch up. Very nice heavy duty blades, and I would recommend them to anyone. A very fine value.

I agree, I`ve had a 12" EDMF Trench Bowie for a few years now and IMO they can`t be beat for the $$$. The finish isn`t 100% perfect but I bought it to use not look at so I really couldn`t care less. Dale was great to deal with and even included some mods I wanted free of charge. After a bunch of camping and hiking trips and chopping down lots of standing dead wood trees it has a few light stains in the bluing on the blade and 3 small chips from chopping through a log with a large nail grown into it. It`s great balance of heavy chopping ability, overall weight and handyness. I`d buy one again in a minute,in fact I`d like to get one of his smatchets with the more traditional style handle. :) Marcus

I own 3 from EDMF. Dale has been a pleasure to work with. They have withstood some use, I would take them for life support, no problem.
