Does anybody own this knife ?
I wonder how the small (4”) handle fits a normal hand. What do you think of its cutting ability, isn’t a ¼” thick blade too big for utility purposes ? In your opinion, for what kind of tasks is this knife designed ?

I think it is a very beautiful knife, but it is, with its dimensions, a little bit special, so your comments will be very helpful.

Thank in advance !
:D

Hi Louky

I handled one in Rome some weeks ago.

I have medium sized hands and the grip was to short for me.

I really liked the blade shape, ok granted with this blade thickness all
knives are sharp prybars but due to the 100% flat grind normal cutting
tasks seem possible.

Weight was ok, didn't got the chance to handle the sheat.

Greetings

Hannes

Thank you very much Hannes. I guess this knife was not yet handled by many people, so I really appreciate your comments. ;)

Have a nice day ! :D

I've handled one, too, though I didn't get a chance to use it. My first impression is that the Shrapnel is small, in fact it's kind of cute. I liked the design, but was wondering whether the tip would be strong enough to take the kind of abuse that ERs in general seem to have been created for. Sure, the blade stock is 1/4" (and, no, this does not seem excessive, even for such a small knife), but the tip is quite a bit thinner.

All in all the Shrapnel looks like a cool little knife, but if you're looking for a small fixed blade that's truly bombproof, you might want to consider the new Fulcrum. Personally, I hate combo edges (which the Fulcrum has), so between the two I would pick the Shrapnel.

Hi Nathan,

I think Carlo aka Falcenberg told about you.

He took me to trip through the knifeshops of Rome when I was there.

We were at Prezioso's and Dolcimascolo. I saw some nice Customs but the
Production pieces were a bit pricey.

By the way the Shrapnel was like EURO 290,-- if I remember correctly.

Ciao

Hiya Hannes. I haven't heard from Carlo in a while; I guess his baby daughter must be keeping him busy.

With regard to the Shrapnel, I've seen them here in my area for 165 euros.
