I'm considering the 55 for my next purchase. I've like the look and feel of the 112, but in my opinion it is a sheath carry knife, too heavy for the pocket. Does anyone use the 55 for EDC pocket carry? I appreciate any comments that you may have.

Thanks,
Clay

I sometimes carry a Buck 55 in a leather William Henry clip case. It is a great little knife. It is a small pocket knife and will not fill the role of a heavy duty 112, but the handle is big enough (almost 3.5 inches) for my medium hands that I can hold onto the knife and maintain positive control while cutting.

It is the same size as the Buck 503 Prince except the 55 has a clip blade a little less than 2.5 inches. It is a great knife for cutting packing tape, plastic bundle strap, string, shrink wrap and envelopes. Great for the office and probably good for light outdoor chores. (I'm a city boy. What do I know about outdoor chores?)

The 420HC is pretty easy to sharpen but will not hold an edge forever. I had to resharpen my 55 after a few minutes on plastic bundle strap. The opening and closing on mine was smooth and lock up was solid with minor acceptable blade play.

The price is pretty low and the quality is pretty high. It looks good and performs well. The 55 is a good buy. :)
