Really hate that the search function has been turned off. Their may already be some posts about Jeff's work.

I am looking for a smaller fixed blade for EDC. Someone that I really trust recommended one of Jeff's Piranhas. I am typically not crazy about the wharncliffe style, but this one looks really good. 2.75" blade and overall length of 6.75"

Anyone have any experience with his knives?

I second what George said, Clean work with Awsome fit and finish.
Also his Sheaths are second to none...all made by (as far as I know)
On Scene Tactical(Normark).

Jeff won in the "Best Utility" category at the April Canadian Knifemakers Guild show.

You really couldn't go wrong with a knife from Jeff.

Hey Dennis...

Dang thats a nice looking pic...

That knife is from the Blade show isn't it ??

Well,, obviously my recommendations for Jeff's knives are very bias,,since I do all of his synthetic sheathing,, but In all honesty the very first time I met Jeff I felt the passion of his work through his knives.

All I can say is that, you Won't be sorry you have purchased any of his knives...

The Pirahna is a heck of a knife for EDC and has a wide variety of possible uses. I have one in Rose Damascus, another plain one on order and yet a Magnum Pirhana Flat Ground(about 2-3 times the size of the standard) on order in 1/4" D2...

Jeff's Pirhana is going to go places I believe...

Again in all Honesty you'll love the knife, and the Warncliff blade will definately grow on you the first time you use it...

Here is Jeff's website if you haven't seen it yet..

If you have any questions,, Feel free to drop me a note or just give Jeff a call..He'll be happy to chat with you...

Hi Dennis,

I have one of Jeff’s Piranhas and it is one of the nicest most versatile fixed blades I own. One word that is inherit with Jeff whole line of knives is.....ergonomic. Even with this small of knife the G10 is contoured enough to allow your fingers to get a good grip no matter what medium you are cutting, wet or dry. This is even more so with his larger models. He shapes his grips/handles so they feel like they were molded to your hand. The scales are bead/sand blasted creating a nice texture allowing a good positive grip. The thumb ridges carved into the top of the spine allow for a comfortable grip allowing a lot of the knife to lie in your hand, creating a tremendous amount of control for a small knife. This also feels quite natural in a reverse grip mode if you’re looking for a small defensive knife to be used in a “draw point” fashion. The blade grinds are perfect and the edge is a nice thin edge allowing for some real precise cuts. Jeff is real picky about the sharpness and finish of his edges and it shows. I haven’t had to do anything to the edge as it’s still maintaining its sharpness after a couple months of use. Jeff offers a couple of finishes to his knives, a bead blast finish and a two-tone finish. Jeff is one of the only makers I’ve seen do this type of finish, he offers a near polished type bevel or a satin polish finish with a cork belt and the rest is a bead blast. This two-tone effect looks stunning on a Damascus blade. He makes the Piranha model in a 1/8” and 5/32” stock, I personal like the 5/32” stock on this knife just because I like how that little extra material fills my hand, I don’t think the performance of the knife would change depending on the stock size do to the type of blade shape. I wasn’t a fan of some of the wharncliffes designs either, mainly because I thought the weakest portion would be the tip. This is absolutely not the case with this model. Being this is a reverse tanto type wharncliffe the tip is quite sturdy, but still offering the thin cutting capability of the thin grind throughout the rest of the bevel. This style also provides a very strong and highly effective tip for a thrusting motion. This is also a nice variation of the wharncliffe being that there is a slight belly to the blade, which is actually noticeable while using, making it all the more a good utility knife. The last time I talked to Jeff he used his Piranha to field dress a deer. The blade is ATS-34 and he also makes these out of Damasteel, which was mentioned earlier. My knife, being the same style as above was made out of tan G10 which offers an nice contrast with three mosaic pins that are on the handle. BTW, Jeff makes all of his mosaic pins. He offers G10, Micarta, stabilized woods and ivories for handle materials. Finishing off the great package is Eric’s (Normark) Concealex sheath with is second to none as far as sheaths go.

I’d keep an eye on Mr. Diotte, I know he got a lot of looks at the Blade Show and a lot of inquires about dealers and companies wanting to carry and manufacture is designs. Eric gave Jeff’s phone number, he’s a great guy to talk to and you can tell he has a real passion for knives and puts a lot of thought into his designs.

If you have any other questions feel free to contact me.

Take care,
Tom

Thanks TMAC.

That is exactly what I wanted to hear. I was looking for a smaller EDC fixed blade and am leaning towards the Piranha.

Does anyone have any pics with other knives for size comparison?

Looks like a winning combination to me! Looks like a wicked deep hollow grind! Sweet!
