Hi Tom and Coonskinner...I am a member of the Marble Knife collector club (m+kcc) and just received a flyer in the mail about their new pocket knives. The info. is not posted on their site yet...www.marblearms.com
Marble Arms teemed-up with Queen Cuterly ( Schatt & Morgan..remember their File & wire tested methods at the turn of the century?) to produce six pocket knives. Each is available in a choice of Marble's medium amber pick bone, Altante synthetic fire pearl or Asian buffalo horn scales. All blades are stamped M.S.A. Co. and 01 for 2001 production. The escutcheon inlay bears the famous Marble's Banner.
Each pattern in each handle will be limited to only 400 in the 2001 production (quite limited). The patterns are: Doctors 2-blade jackknife, straight tappered 2-blade "english jack", stockman 3-blade pocketknife, wharnecliffe whittler 3-blade pen knife, congress 4-blade jackknife, and tear drop easy opener 2-blade jackknife !!
Four of the six patterns have long-nick or long pull nail openers and all blades are made of 1095 carbon steel. Words alone cannot describe how beautiful, different and unusual the knives truly are.
For me the good news is the blades will have the Marble convex grind..not the full, but"little" convex grind. They should be extremely easy to sharpen (leather strope) and hold an excellent edge. Prices will range from $125.00 to $170.00 RETAIL. Marble has received all the parts and sub assemblies and the final product will be 100% completed by the skilled craftsmen at the Marble plant in Gladstone, Michigan.
First time in over 95 years for a new Marble pocket knife to appear anywhere in the world that I know of, They should go fast.
Try this address. It belongs to Mr. Ken Warner ( cuterly hall of fame ), and I believe he has some if not all of them in stock. info@knifeware.com Please tell Ken I said hello. He has a great selection of Marble, Blackjack and his own brand of knives also.
Happy Collecting !!
