There are a few comments that I found searching the archives, but no review that I could find.

Would any Mouse owners be kind enough to post their comments about the knife? Seems tiny, but Wegner generally equals quality.

I am interested in this knife for carrying in deep sheeple country.

Thanks in advance for all replies.

While you are waiting for a kind soul to reply with a review, you may want to do a search on the Spyderco forum if you haven't already. There are a bunch of mouse threads on there. (I searched for "Mouse" in the subject line only on the Spyderco forum.)

There's also a good thread on in the Knife Reviews & Testing Archive:

I just ordered a Spyderco Calypso Jr. for sheeple-friendly carry and have started to think that even that's too big for many people. The Mouse does seem really nice from the threads I read, although the Navigator might have a more useful blade for EDC.

I can tell you that the Mouse is a great little knife. It is very comfortable. The Mouse works like a much bigger knife. This mouse thinks it is a moose! Fit and finish are excellent on all examples I have seen. All in all my favorite small knife. I carried mine around downtown Atlanta and felt perfectly safe.

I've had one for a while and like it. Definately a 3 fingered knife, so you have to get along in that mode. Plenty of edge for the size of the blade, but less point in trade. Good solid lockup, very sharp out of the box (I've never known Spyderco to be anything but), built like a tank, relatively heavy for its size, and not quite as easy to open (IMHO) for my hand as, for example my Spyderco Dragonfly which is a little better ergonomically, but also much lighter and more delicate than the Mouse.

A good small knife that will not scare too many people, and will start some interesting conversations.

i have carried and used a mouse for a little over a year now when i am not carrying my small sebenza for edc....i use a small folder for my main cutting tool..the mouse is built like a tank and handles big cutting jobs that look tough with relative ease...i have yet to raise an eyebrow at the hospital but then again i have been known to pull out my second knife which is either a busse mean street from under my white coat or a dozier agent or dozier personal or spyderco catcherman...the nurses and other docs are now conditioned not to flinch and gasp when i produce any size blade for proper use

the mouse blade of VG-10 will hold an edge fairly well but not nearly as well as D2 or BG-42....nonetheless it doesnt whimper when i put it to hard use for such a small blade

i recently had the pleasure of cutting a patient loose from his restraints during an emergent resuscitation in the ICU and the little blade cut the four heavy canvas straps like the proverbial hot knife through butter...a few licks on my khakis and it was stropped back to hair popping razor sharpness

as far as the three finger hold situation is concerned i have remedied this by tying a hangman's noose drawn tight aka reeve style fob (lanyard) onto the end of the mouse and this allows an easy hold for the pinky finger ....depending how large and/or long you make the fob/lanyard you can also get a fairly good grip purchase into the rest of the hypothenar eminence of the palm

overall i have been very pleased with the mouse and like it significantly better than the navigator in G-10 that i had and no longer own....the mouse's area just above the opening hole is rounded and smooth whereas the navigator's came to a point and lacerated my hand several times when fishing in my pocket for something else (the knife was clipped to the pocket)...also the navigator lacks thumb jimping or serrations but the mouse's thumb jimping is perfect and doesn't cut my hand up....additionally i prefer the tip up carry the mouse affords unlike the tip down carry of the navigator which i dislike but the controversy of tip up versus tip down carry is not the main issue here...the tip up versus tip dpwn controversy can be researched in other threads and is as old as the pocket clip's existence

the above rantings are just a few thoughts from my experience with the mouse....sheeple wont gasp and get bug eyed when it is produced...if you know your anatomy it will work well as a defensive tool...additionally i have let friends who have do a bit of air travel test the security waters with multiple air lines and it has always gotten through the toughest security check points... in summary it packs small and plays BIG

I don't have time to post a real review, but let me pass along a few comments. I bought my wife a Mouse six months ago and it immediately became her EDC. (Usually in a Mike Sastre neck sheath.) She adores the little thing and uses it quite heavily. For several months her job required her to cut up (not just open) several dozen heavy cardboard boxes every day. It took a month of that, plus other use, before she noticed any dulling of the blade. Ten minutes on our Sharpmaker fixed it right up for at least another month.

The Mouse behaves like a heavy-duty 4" tactical while looking small and harmless. It is in an entirely different class from the other small Spydercos. (The Native and Delica seem almost fragile after you've handled a Mouse.) I like larger knives myself, but if I ever want something in that size range I'll get myself a Mouse of my own.

Was able to handle a Mouse at the Tacoma knife show recently. Blade-Tech had a table. I really liked it a lot. But, have to admit, the fact the acting price was in the same neighborhood as the large Wegner, caused me to pause, stop even.

bquinlan -- am a bit surprised at your remark re the Native. I was carrying the Native when I looked at the Mouse. While indeed the Mouse is dense, heavy for its apparent size, it in no way, IMHO, made the Native feel feeble or frail.

Now, the Native does make my Calypso Jr feel that way, I confess. But, I regard the the Native as easily the strongest feeling FRN handled/no liner knife I've handled.

Guess everything is truly relative. To me, the Native and Calypso Jr both seem kind of small. But, that is compared to the knives I'd been carrying for the bulk of the past 2 years. Both, I admit, are bigger than the LUS I was carrying on my left side. But, both have the distinct advantage of ambidexterity, something the CRKT knives don't.

Guess all I can say is that if they'd knock a few bucks off the price of the Mouse, I'd probably buy it, despite my distaste for slippery handles. It is small enough to trap it entirely, and remove the problem of slickness, from what I could see.
