Review Request - Zippo Folders

I had a small Zippo folder similar to that several years ago. Similar to a Gerber LST(?).
It was a good handy little knife. IIRC, Zippo owns Case (I may be out of date on this one), so maybe that's who makes them?

I'll break the tie, then. When my wife and I were first dating, she gave me an engraved Zippo folder. It has a stainless steel handle and is a nice little knife. Good lock-up, nice finish... A reasonably priced gent's blade, if you ask me.

Nice little knife. if you don't use it. I had one for about three weeks, the usual stuff like opening envelopes, cutting fruit, opening boxes. Then it fell apart, literally, in my hands. Piece of crap.

Since I got it as a promo gift, I didn't bother with Zippo.

Instead, I got a Spyderco Michael Walker Lightweight.

Unfortunately, I now own 16 other Spyderco knives, so it was a very expensive failure.

Owen, i think your right. i was very surprised to see they had "tru-sharp" steel. I don't see how else it could be.

Was a Zippo gents folder. One of the promotional money clip style ones with a really small blade on one side and a nail file on the other. My Dad gave it to me when I was 5. I carried that for a very long time as a child before losing it some way or another.

I never got the impression, even as a child, that it was particularly rugged, but I did manage to cut alot of light weight string, paper, apples, fingers, etc. without it coming apart on me. I seem to remember it being pretty sharp when my Dad gave it to me, and I learned to sharpen on it, so from what I remember it held an edge well enough.

Don't know if this was particularly helpful, but hey why miss the opportunity for a bit of nostalgia now and then?:)

Reason I ask ;) is that I want to give that to my wife. The one with index finger notch feels comfy in my hand, and I think will make good EDC. It also can be flipped open one handed with Imada's (Advanced Balisong Manual) technique : pinching the blade and flipping the handle backward.

But wondering, any better way to do it, maybe attaching a button for one hand thumb opening?
