If you have ever used a WS Ken Onion, or a belt sdander, with linen belts and CBN or diamond compound, instead of sandpaper, would you please share your experiences?

I have used the Ken onion. I don't care for it. I also have used a harbor freight 1x30. With various belts including leather and linen with various compounds. As well as a paper wheel and freehand. They all work. Belts are great for.profiling or restoring a rounded off edge. But honestly in time any one of these will work.
