Hi guys and gals - I haven't reviewed anything in a while, so I decided to let you have a look at a new addition to my friction folder collection. Please enjoy, any and all comments welcome!
One of my new favorite knives from one of my favorite makers: a Timberghost Customs Stone Raptor that Keone at TG made to my specifications. It's D2 with a CF presentation side, an orange peeled Ti back scale, a custom cut Ti pocket clip (yes, you can pocket clip a frikky!) and a gorgeous copper backspacer. The pivot is Ti and the rest of the hardware is SS.
You can see the kind of odd blade shape on this knife: it's all belly. As you can imagine, it's a mean little slicer, but if you're looking for a defense weapon or something to baton with, look elsewhere. That said, I can tell you first hand that it makes a fine pancake flipper in a pinch! (Long story, don't ask).
The fit and finish is top notch. I asked Keone to stone wash it, and he did. The pivot is super smooth. The size and weight are interesting - it's not large with a 2" blade length and an OAL near 6", but that copper backspacer gives it a bit of heft. I like heft in my knives; I have big hands and this fits them very nicely with a three finger grip. The Ti clip is very nicely curved over and is not obtrusive at all in a standard grip.
So there you go. Keone is a Knife Maker member here - look him up and have a look, because he does some awesome work that I suspect is going to blow up one of these days. Without further ado, some nice pictures to look at!
