So ... i got my ZT 0302 today.

actually i was looking for the right one quite a long time. i originally wanted the 0301 but as it is sold out everywhere – or has the wrong kind of striping – i just went for the 0302 and ... ya ... the hell with it, right? it's just colour.

first i was afraid the "coyote sand" would look like pudding in real life. i was so wrong. it is more like a wood-ish kind of colour.

but to start from the biginning. i collect knifes only for 2 years now maybe. i usually went for 80 buck knifes. and there are some pretty bad ass ones like the WALTHER BLACK TAC. believe me ... youre getting a lot of knife for 30 bucks there!

SO! i ordered a STRIDER SNG 2 weeks ago. came fast. and my first impression was .... well ... 400$? for what? wasn't that sharp and not smooth at all. i didnt really appreciate it.

today i went to a local camping store to look at a SEBENZA. and again ... i was like "where is the 400 dollars in this?". It is like buying NIKE shoes and only pay for the name.

MAN, I WAS SO WRONG!

since i already was at the store i thought why not have a look on all the other knifes? and one was crappier than the other. cheap manufactured, grinds all over ... and dont get me started on the edges. how can they sell this shite?

so in the end ... i really learned what it is that makes chris reeve, strider and kershaw knifes that supirior!

talking bout supiriority: ZERO TOLERANCE 0302!
received it today. on the way back i had to go through a forrest anyways so i had the chance to make some cut and chop test. TREES HAD NO CHANCE hahaha
I HACKED OF A BRANCH AND CUT A SPEAR IN 5 SECONDS!

this focker is hard, sharp and smooth in the same time.
cause when you open it its not like WHACK. its smooooth. more like a jedi light sabre ... opening slow and threatening ... ish.

FACTS
Blade: S30V steel
frame lock side: TITANIUM
GRIP SIDE: G-10
CLIP: adjustable (tip up, tip down, left, right)
OPENING: flipper (spring assisted) and double thumb stud (that thing is crap)

COLOURATION
first i was afraid that the G10 side would look like pudding. the pix on the internet had a variety from aquarium sand to diarrhea.
but now as i have it? it is so awesome! you guys who are on the fence between the ranger green and the coyote sand: give it a shot! it is more to it than it looks on the net!

SHARPNESS:
I won't say "it came razor sharp right out of the box" as everyone says that about their new knifes. and what does it really mean? so i will rather give you an example: you cant shave your arm hair with it. but you can cut branches in slices. its actually more like PEELING it. very fine, smooth, long slices without the need to hack. its like butter.
hacking a branch the size of a thumb? ONE WHACK! clean through.

TOUGHNESS
i didnt had the chance yet to test the toughness. and i dont intend to. but there is a veeeery nice destruction test in seven parts from JEFF GAASTRA which are really good! he's wacking through bolts and cutting holes in the hood of a car. so ... i have no doubt that you could ramm it into a wall and step on it to look over or something.

MANUFACTURING
well ... it's not as clean made as a LAGUIOLE would be. but as it is machined ... i think its okay. the holes fore the screws are a bit fuzzy ... but that can eaily be fixed.
all the slaps of material are well put together as far as i can see ... no grinds ... no edges ... yeah and the FRAME LOCK is AWESOME! when i compare it with my STRIDER it is SO MUCH BETTER! im sure the STRIDER is safer as my one locks in almost all the way ... but it gets stuck all the time and is really tough to unlock. with the ZT? no problem.

and one more thing: i was hoping that you cant hear or see the "steel spring" inside and the knife really met my expectations. if you wouldnt know that there is one in there ... you wouldnt get a clue. and if you dont want it in there it is easy to remove.

so ... thats it so far. not really a review ... but my oppinion in a nut shell. well ... a big one i guess :-)

if you want to know anything feel free to ask

regards
DON

Good Review!!

I picked up a ZT 0300 and it is a fantastic knife, couldn't be happier.

By far the best production tactical folder I've ever come accross.

I EDC a 301 and I love it. I know allot of people say that its to heavy for a EDC blade, but a few extra Oz's isn't going to kill me.

I wonder if anyone out there has anything NEGATIVE to say about the 300 series (other than weight / size) or has seen any major failures with the lock or steel.

Hey Guys and Gals,

I'm a new member to the BladeForums, a transplant from the CandlePowerForums. Just starting my knife collection. I picked up the ZT 0301 in Dec of 2010. Man is this a knife. Solid as a rock. Love the index opening feature. I have really large hands and this baby fits me like a glove. Hope to pick up as much knowledge here as I did in the CPFs. My collection is small but growing.

Stay sharp everyone.

I've been thinking about possibly getting either the 0300 or the 0302 lately, but have been trying to decide between that or the 0200. They both are great designs, kind of hard to choose. Though the 0300/0302 has such an awesome frame lock design.

Ive got the 0200 and the 0300.I much prefer the handle and blade profile of the 0200 (it pierces better).Awesome knives for the money....
