From what I've read their blade steel (or one of them) is o2, and their knives are generally ground to a puuko style zero edge.

How do they fair as cutting tools given their low grinds at 1/8"-3/16" thick? Do they generally cut and react like puuko style blades do? (cloth, thin plastic bags, thick rigid plastic sheats, rubber, wood shaving, paper)

I know that they are mostly designed as defensive/fighting knives, but I was curious how they would fair in generally edc use given their somewhat unique geometry. I'm currently reading through the archived jsp forum trying to find user reviews....

All the JSP knives I've seen were made from A2 steel. Not sure if he's still around or not but the pieces I've handled were top notch in quality.

He also got so backed up that he completely stopped taking new orders. That was several years ago, not sure of his current wait times. His knives were awesome though, heavy duty and built for use.
