So if any1 can post some links of reviews or test I would be really happy because I cant find any.Im looking for this knife mostlly for choping woods and big things, I have pocket

That was the worst knife I have ever owned. The first one I bought had the tip broken off. I had gotten a replacement which wasn't much better. The edge was extremely dull, actually not even sharpened. Once I got that fixed and tried it to chop through soft pine, it rolled very easily. Oh, and the handle sucked rocks.

Some of the older convex ground ones were good, but all the newer ones I have seen leave a lot to be desired. The edges a way too thick the handles are uncomfortable and the overall fit and finish is poor.

The last several contractors have supplies dogs, unlike the first couple of makers.

I have one that seems to be from the first contract by Wilkinson, and compared it to a currently-made item. The Wilkinson had a bright blade with a convex grind and very comfortable handle. It was modest in cutting but chopped well. The new one had a saber grind with a very thick edge that neither cut well nor chopped well PLUS a quite uncomfortable handle.

Both were balanced well forwadr and both had sheaths that, in terms of protecting the carrier, were jokes - paper-thin.

From sharpening, my impression was that the older knife blade was harder than the new one.

I have one i bought in the early 90s.....I'm think about having it ground to a Bowie profile. Any thoughts?

Good solid military blade, featuring an overly robust 'thick' edge configuration which offers a delightfully stout prybar should one need to crack open an ammo case. I doubt a tank could destroy mine. This is, however, NOT the knife that will win a beauty contest.

This is my most used knife, tough as hell and should easily out live me !!!!!:D

In response to Greens reply above I can only think that the steel varied a lot from maker to maker.
Mine seems to hold an edge really well and like I have said on previous posts I batton firewood with it nearly every day.The only time I put a slight roll in the edge was when I battoned through an old fence post and didn't realise I was going through a nail...even this sharpened out in a few minutes !

Still, it looks like the original design rather than the "improved" (cheapened) version. I got a Wilkinson version off eBay. Compared to the Hopkinson's, it cuts much better. The handle also seems more comfortable to my hand. The broad spine nearly to the point makes it excellent for batoning.

this is the knife we tryed to trade with the english soldiers when i was in the dutch army as an proffesional soldier. whe knew that you had to look for the broad arrow then you were sure that it was military issue .joseph rodgers and sons made in my opinion the best hardened knife ,the sheets were from tough green canvas
we used it for digging, hacking ,killing animals and throwing in trees and it still did the job with all the abuse
tough knife (i am not sure or the words are correct english)
