Reviews on the Seal 2000 vs CRKT F.TW.S

The newer version of the SOG SEAL 2000 is the SEAL Team. It's an OK knife, but I think it's a bit overpriced for a Taiwan made AUS-8 knife. I'm not too fond of the part serrated edge and I find the tip a bit delicate (considering it's a big 7" blade). Not what I'd choose for hard use.

As for the CRKT FTWS, I've got no personal experience with it but it doesn't seem like a very good choice for utility work. I'm not a fan of double edged blades and I've had bad experiences with CRKT.

Honestly, I think there are better knives available in the $100 or lower price range. For instance, the ESEE 4 (a great knife with a kick ass warranty), Cold Steel SRK (around $80 for the AUS-8 version and $120 or so for the Japanese San Mai III model), just to name a couple.

...Agreed. there are more suitable blades out there for your money. Hell, i'd take a ka-bar over either of these for real use, and you could buy two in case you lose one in the drink again. the SOG is a huge blade in person, too big to be a utility blade, too small for a big knife, and that CRKT has a sharpened rear "false blade" right where you would press your thumb for control or hit it to baton, and that takes it out of the running for me.

I'm not a Cold Steel fan, but if I was looking for a simple beat-it-to-death field knife, you cant go wrong with the GI Tanto. I realize it isn't much more than a sharpened pointy slab a metal, but for $35 including a sheath, you can throw it in the swamp when you're done with it. There are also several of the Ontario Spec-plus or military knives that meet your needs.
