This came to mind when someone posted about their Diamondback or was it a Basketweave handled Buck that they had. I have some of those that I bought early in my Buck buying career and I do like them (the wood handled ones).

Has anyone bought any of those aftermarket 110's with the corelon handles? You know the ones, they are listed on eBay all the time, spiders, basketweave, etc. in all kinds of strange colors by at least two different sellers. They are usually listed as limited editions, 1/400 or something like that.

What do they actually look and feel like when you have them in hand? I've never really seen anyone here discuss having one.

I dont have any but I always thought the timber rattler and recluse looked pretty good. They gotta be about the same as the Yellowhorse that have the lazor cut scales. I do have a problem if/when they imply that they are factory LE's.

I have the Recluse from the ebay dealer. I bought it on a lark to irritate the Wife (really bad reason to buy a knife).

Bit guady to me but the work seems to be done well enough.

I'm going to let it go though since it just isn't my thing.

It's fine as a knife, just wish the seller didn't misrepresent them.

Are you talking about the wood handles? I really sorta like them. The basketweave wood looks real good with one of the basket weave sheaths I have.

I have some of these models. I must admit I got caught up in them at the beginning then realized what they were.
The fit and finish is good . The art work is not detailed, very simple.
These are serial numbered 001's and 002's. Then they would add engraving to the bolsters and start the numbers over again. I guess for what I paid they are "OK" quality.

Those are typical of the one's I was referring to. I've tried to find out what corelon really is. I first thought it was corian, but I don't think so. I have corian countertops in my motorhome and it sure doesn't look plastic like the corelon does.

I remembered that I bought a J. Kidd "custom" (Wildhorse) a couple of years ago (can't for the life of me figure out why), that looks like it was customized using the same handle material. When I got it, my gag reflex nearly kicked in so I put it away. :D Today's the first time I've taken it out since.

I have about 6 or 7 of them and like them for what I paid for them, which was never more than about $40. Come Dave, you need to make you quota of buying about 20 Bucks this week! Order some!...lol...

;) Well, I need about five more to make my quota, but those won't be them. :)

Sorry Dave,

No info from me as those are not my cup of tea. My thoughts are about the same as your reaction to that orange plastic thing you bought. To each his/her own, there are enough folks buying them to keep the customizer building them.

 The Ward Bros. set!!!!!! :D

I had one of those years back, the spider one. I realized the deal there, and sold it soon afterward. Fit and finish was good, but it just wasnt my cup of tea. I thought the scales felt like plexiglass.

I've been dragging my feet waiting for the purchase price to rise on a certain one of these. And I am not sure that I can explain this except that I want to be able to say that I have a, "hundred buck hundred buck Buck." :foot:

Sidebar: The challenge for a computer to understand this expression, "can a can can can" is daunting. I'm recording Jeopardy to see people vs computer tonight, 7PM here on the left coast.

You mean this one? :D

I also bought five or six of those in various colors a couple of years ago. I don't think I paid over $35, including shipping, for any of them. I stuck with the plainer ones though....Nothing too gaudy. The fit and finish on the knives was up to normal Buck standards, and the fit of the inlays is pretty good on all of them. I'm not sure why they appealed to me other than its nice to own variations of the 110 that we all love so much.

Bingo! You couldn't be more right. That is it.

Buck. As much an institution as the Bureau of Engraving. That particular knife should be legal tender for all debts public and private.

Who does the work: Image, scale and scale swap? I asked SMKW about this knife and was told that they won't carry them any longer. Are they collector items now? I wonder if they can be carried, sheath or pocket, without wrecking the image in a hurry...

There were several 110's that SMKW's carried that were listed as "O/Bucks" and included the $100 bill model. I don't remember what the others were right off hand (all gone but the $100 and Timber Rattler). I asked about the origin of the handle work and they told me it was aftermarket, not done by Buck. I assume that's the reason they used O/Buck and not just Buck. Neither one of them is available at this time anyway.

Dave,

Funny to me (my sensitivity to price point and the play on word thing).

When priced @ $75 (liquified mouse):

VERY COOL pictures! Did you have something to do with the owl? My wife was very involved with rehabing owls for several years and would have loved that picture!

I was a spectator @ the Discovery Center/museum (a short walk from Fort Rock, a Lewis & Clark camp on the Columbia River) in The Dalles Oregon for a avian predator show there Sunday. http://www.gorgediscovery.org/

They have several rehab. birds. The one shown is a adult male Great Horned Owl, about 60% the size of an adult female. Keep a close eye on the small dogs, including Yorkies. Their talons can produce 500 pounds per square inch pressure. Enough to pierce bone. Humans with good grip can produce 50 lbs psi with their thumb. They can carry 9 pounds in flight. You can find small collars with pet names on their tags around the base of GHO nesting trees. They have 14 neck bones in order to turn their heads. Their eyes are fixed and their neck moves. We, and giraffe, have 7 neck bones. He looks big but he is about 1/2 his apparent bulk without feathers. The weight of his bones equals the weight of his feathers. Gives a favorable power to weight ration.
