I took a few pictures today to show how easily I gave some new life to a dried out AK handle with a few coats of pure tung oil.

Here it is before I did any work.

Really brings it to life don't it. Another guy with a bare foot fetish too.

I keep forgetting that not everyone lives in the wet and wild NW. Up here you'd have moss growing on your feet in a matter of hours.

I never could walk across a room without shoes, feet just too tender and never toughened em up I guess.

Now that I roll I guess it's a moot point but I still like shoes, mostly for push bars now. Once forgot I was wearing soft slippers and tried to push something across the garage floor. Wasn't pretty, broke toes on both feet, no loss, don't use em for much anyhow.

Yep, it's pretty much sandals weather 11 months out of the year here. It was in the low 80's today, going to be low 70's tonight.

Had some linseed or flax oil leftover and rubbed it into my kids building blocks. Turned them from dried out white into a nice golden shiny hue.
Also feels less rough and probably gives less splinters.

Looks good Phillll! Really brings out the grain of the wood doesn't it! Guess im gonna have to get some tung oil and try it. Ive never used it. My KLVUK is a bit oily on outside but surface is looking like it is drying a bit. Keep us updated. Curious on how the tung oil works. Nice AK!
Its supposed to get fourty five here tonight and yep im barefooted. I was out quenching some knives and is getting cold outside. Today my feet got spattered with hot motor oil, eaten up by ants, perforated with blackberry spines, piled about a chord of firewood and now time for them to rest! My back is sore but my feet are fine!
Thats funny Jens!!! What did your kids say while you were playing with their blocks!

My daughter (4) couldn't argue with that.

She likes it too and demanded to make all her blocks more pretty.
My son ~2 didn't realize what I did. I doubt he will notice any difference.

Well theres no denying that looks good! Daddy better not be taking my block to make khukri handles:D She'll be carving her own blocks soon anyway right? When my great nephew comes over to visit he goes straight for my Khukri collection! He wants me to take pics of him posing with them. He always ask me if I have any new ones. His dad is a Navy Seal so he has seen his dads long blades before and for 12 years old he is very well disciplined so I let him do it! He dont know about my GCB yet!

Handles from that crossed my mind more than once. I guess we think alike :) Since I think its not the toughest wood they are safe, for now.
I'm sure your nephew is in for a big surprise when he sees Maus -->
