Ok guys and girls. I just got through doing a review on the SOG Hunter-Revolver and the SOG Salute (which will be posted tonight) and I want to give others a chance to try these knives out and see what they think. I really want everyone to remember to give feedback on the quality of the materials. Don't just talk about the design. Even if you hate the design, tell us what you think about fit and finish, edge-holding ability, etc.

Here are the rules:

1) You must promise to ship the knives after 4 days of usage to the next person on the list. Shipping must be USPS Priority and you must use "delivery confirmation" when you send it out. I want to be able to keep up with where these are to make sure they stay on track. You must email me when you receive the knife and when you ship it out. Please include the tracking number. Please plan ahead on this guys. I know that there are extenuating circumstances that come up sometimes out of the blue, but if you have something coming up that you know about that would interfere with this, please just wait for the next pass-around.

2) I'd like everyone to take at least a couple of pictures and post them with their thoughts on the knives in this thread.

3) Please don't abuse these knives. Use common sense and keep in mind what these knives are made to be used for. Neither of them are designed for prying or anything like that. I would ask that no one baton these knives. It's not that I don't think they could handle it once in a while. I just don't want 6 people smashing these tools with a baton one after the other.

4) You must be a participating member of Bladeforums and have a post count over 200. I prefer paid forumites.

5) This is for people in the CONUS who are over the age of 18 ONLY. Sorry youngbloods and brothers across the pond, just can't swing it on this one. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate you though.

6) The knives don't have to be hair-popping sharp when they show up to the next person, but do us a favor and don't send them dull. If you could touch them up as best you can before you ship them, it would be much appreciated.

How it will work:

Everyone who wants to be in on this passaround, please post here. The first 6 people will be in. I'll make a list here and email everyone for their addresses. After I have everyone's address, I will send an email to everyone on the list with the address of the person they need to ship the knife to. If for any reason someone forgets who is next or loses the email, just let me know and I'll send it again. The last person on the list will need to ship the knives back to me and then I'll decide where the knives need to go from there. More than likely, there will be some sort of giveaway. Like I said, I'd like everyone to use common sense with these knives. NO DESTRUCTION TESTING OF ANY KIND! I really really like this Revolver, and I'd like to have it back in one piece.

Ok. Go.

As a side note, I have fallen in love with the Revolver and I hate sending it away. lol. Take care of it. It likes a nap after its lunch and it prefers organic food.

Dylside, thanks so much for your trouble and consideration of this knife.

It may not be a good time to try this with everything else going on right now..............:(

I think everyones thoughts may be on other things right now.

I do understand you liking the Revolver though. :p

Thanks again.

Robbie Roberson.

Yep. There don't seem to be a ton of people wanting to jump on this. I'll give it a few days. If nobody wants to take me up on this, I'll just try something else.

I'd like to particapate if I can. Can test the Fusion Hunter Revolver along side my old school Seal Revolver and I can test the Salute along side a Spyderco Byrd folder. Email or PM me if It's cool.

Absolutely. I'm going to give this a couple of days to see if anyone else wants to try them also. If nothing else, I'll definitely send them to you to try out for a while.

Oh what the heck. I've been a long time SOG fan and this would be a good chance to try one of their newer knives. If it's ok, I'd like in on this. I'm most interested in the Revolver.

Thanks, Dyslide. I skimmed over your review thread. Good job on that!

Are there only two of us in the Pass around so far? Maybe someone should post a thread in the Pass around forum about this? I want to see this happen.

Sorry about taking so long guys. I got distracted. Heber, I'll send these out to you tomorrow. I'll shoot you an email when I get back from USPS.

Sounds good to me, I'm looking forward to it.

Got the knives today when I got home from work. The revolver wasn't cleaned since it was used last but looks like it will funtion pretty well. It's late so I'm not going to use them tonight. Well, except for the Salute, I used it to open the package that my new Coal Creek Forge hawk came in. Initial impression on the Salute is that I like it aside from the exposed steel at the butt. Like the texturing on the handle slabs, the blade shape and thumb stud. Pocket clip holds well to my slacks pocket. Will post more later with pictures when I get a chance to use it.

Dylan, thanks for doing this!!

Yeah, sorry about them being dirty and dull. I didn't have time to clean them up and sharpen them before I shipped them out. Too much stuff going on these days.

No worries, I cleaned up the Salute before breakfast and am wearing it now. After Breakfast I'll try to put it to use. So far I'm really liking it. Most likely will get one for my self. Love that blade shape and think I can get used to the handle. Again, I live the feel of the scales.

When I got that knife, I was very surprised how much more substantial it was than what I was lead to believe from the pictures. That thing was a lot heavier duty than I thought it would be.

So Heber, what do you think so far?

I've been busy with work the last few days so have not posted. But I have had a chance to use the Salute a bit and I really like it. Still love the blade shape and feel of the handle. I've made a few meals using the Salute and it performs really well in the kitchen. Slices veggies and meat really well. Also opened about 10 boxes or so. Have not sharpened it as of yet but thinking of touching up the edge this afternoon. It makes a good Utility/General purpose/Tactical knife. Lock up feels solid and there is slight blade play that could be fixed by tightening the pivot a little. Personally I don't mind the slight play cause the blade opens faster. Love flicking it open when I go to use it.

I'm in the market for a new Pocket knife to add to my rotation that includes a Spyderco Centrefante III and Byrd Raven (Don't carry my SOG folders because they are no longer made and I misplaced them). Well the Salute is perfect for me. Great in the kitchen and good Utility. Since this knife is getting mailed out Monday I can't do to much in the way of testing it's edge holding, but so far so good. Since it's the same steel as my Byrd Raven I think it will hold up just fine!

Have not used the Fusion Revolver yet, thinking I'll use it to slice up the veggies for my Rice Pilaf for lunch. Will let you know how that goes and my impressions after I use it.

Okie dokie Heber, getting close to time to send it off to dl351.

Email me his address in the next few hours and the knives will go out today. It's 1pm now and I'm heading to the post office in 2 hours to mail some sheaths. If I leave before getting the address I'll get them out tomorrow.
