Robbie,

Do you by chance have a list of the links to the articles in regards to where the revolver has been deployed, issued etc... ?

TIA!

Hello Guardrail, I am not certain there are any links as to where they were "issued" other than what was in the SOG 2007 product catalog.

The catalog said,

"The SOG black TINI SEAL Revolver was recently chosen to be a part of the Personal Environmental Protective Survival Equipment (PEPSE) system for Special Operations Forces deployed in cold weather conditions"

I did read where someone on another forum was ask and they replied something like they were being issued to certain forces because of the saw and blade being needed.

I can't remember which forum or who said this, but I found it while searching on google for "SOG Revolver".

Hey robbie, I wanted to ask, do you know what amount of presure will break the pin in these?? in pounds. I got to thinkin about it the other day, and it would be neat to know, that is of course if you've been able to break one :D

Fonly, I've never broken one. I'm sure it can be broken, but I think there are many other things that might happen first.

I think the "safety stop" within the handle would stop the main blade before it broke anyway........and then you add the strength of the lock pin on top of that.

Ever notice it has a stop within the handle near the lanyard ring ?

To see how it works, just depress lock pin and hold it..........then rotate the saw blade to where it goes into handles, you will notice it stops inside the handle.

In other words, technically, you don't even need a lock pin as long as you are pushing down using the main blade, for the saw blade you could use a stick inserted into the hole, it will hold.

I once removed my lock pin for fun, (simulated lost pin) :D and used it all day cutting with the main blade using only a green stick in the lock hole.:o

It worked perfectly, then I pulled it out and used the saw, it too worked perfectly. The physics of this setup is amazing to me, it works so very well........most almost forget it has a back up saw unless they need it.

I have handed my knife to many people in the last 3 years and they look at it and say "nice knife" and hand it back.......never knowing there is a saw hidden in the handle until I rotate the blade.

Ok, thats good to hear. I just starting wondering how strong it is compared to a normal fixed blade, From my tests so far, I believe it is almost as strong, if not at the same level of strength. Under normal use, that .25 (?) pin is going to hold just fine, even batoning didn't pose a problem as seen on another review over on BB, it was on a pass around for a while.

Thanks Robbie, glad to hear of non broken yet.

From a SOG perspective, I have only seen or heard about two knives breaking in the 3+ years we have been producing it. Neither one of them was a breakage of the pin.

Well, thinking about it some more, It should be just as strong, because it really still hase three pins in it, like anyother fixedblade. One in the top of the handle, then in the middle, and it had a rather large stop in the back, So I cant see it having anyproblems.
