Revolver Mounts

Does anybody know who makes a mount for attaching a light to a revolver. I have checked Surefire and GG&G, and they do not seem to have anything. I am sure I have seen photos of revolvers so equipped, but I may be confusing that with a laser sight I saw mounted to a trigger guard.

This is for my wife's home defense 686. I do not want her to mistake me or the kids for a bad guy!

They have not improved upon the first model.

Scott, good damn question. Revolvers seem to have missed the boat on the "Tactical Revolution".

I have an idea, I'll get back too ya'

Scott,

The idea is this. I don't know if it'll work or not.

I've been putting Surefires on M16s for the last couple of days. The mount We're using is a clamp. It clamps around a one inch flashlight and onto the barrel of the AR (under the sight tower in out case).

I'm wondering if one can't be modified to clamp to the underlug of the 686. You'd have to have a long pigtail.

It may just be easier and more practical to teach her a solid Harries technique with a 6P.

I personally favor the Surefire 6Z with the "Syringe" technique, but the only problem is that you must keep the light with the gun.

I'll do some looking around and see if I can find anything.

In the meantime, you might consider asking here;

John,

What you describe is precisely the type of thing I am picturing in my mind. I think my memory is maybe melding several things into one, but I could swear I have seen one somewhere.

I have thought about teaching her a two hand technique, and we have brushed on it, but I would prefer she have a hand free to hold the kids down, move them, whatever...

memnoch,

I agree, but, huh? Was that supposed to go somewhere else?

Just for the heckuvit after reading this post, I used a rat-tailed mini-maglite, a rifle barrel mount, and cobbled up a light for my SW 65-3 .357.
I assume by using the proper barrel clamps (like those available for shotgun tubes and rifle barrels), you could make a rough but solid light mount to put a Surefire/MULE light on another revolver.I do know that a gunsmith can put an upside down weaver rail on the full underlug of a .44 Smith; then rings are used to mount an aiming device (gun I saw had a ridiculously large laser on it).
The dedicated-mount aiming lights are marketed and sold largely to police and military folks, who now are issued/prefer semi-autos. While revolvers (with round trigger guards, round barrels and no real replaceable parts like slide stops) don't lend themselves to the types of mounts currently made, I think Laser Products would make some money if they did make a revolver mount; I mean they make dedicated mounts for limited-issue guns like the Win 1300 shotgun?
Just my 2 cents.
