I ordered a RD9 from Justin a few years ago. Had him sharpen the swedge and give it a satin finish. I really liked it. Damn good chopper I think. Only thing was it still had that "tactical" thing about it. So I started a new project... Bowie-fy it. Started with the swedge. Being Justin alreadt sharpened it there wasn't too much metal to take out. Worked on it slowly as to not over heat the blade and kept watering it down. The blade never got (and can I say this without sounding like a pansy) "ouchy" hot. Has a nice curve to it now. Then moved to the skull crusher end. No real need for it so off it went. Then to the spine to loose those thumb thingies. So for I'm happy with the results. I have to start hand sanding it now to remove the grind marks. Then later on I plan on rehandling it with wood and maybe some mosaic pins. Whatcha guys think so far?
