I have a Ka-Bar Warthog that seen lots of abuse. I beat it up after I bought it, then striped the coating off the blade and hacked off the guards, beat it up some more. Well stupid me thru it in the storage compartment in my jeep and forgot about it... all winter long. Needless to say it rusted pritty good so I started sanding and found it pitted some so I kept sanding, and sanding, and sanding. I was making progress but it was taking forever and me being the impatient person thought bed-liner. I stripped my mini-bushman awhile ago and sprayed the handle with the stuff and it seems to be holding up very well so I thought what the hey. The worst that could happen is it doesn't hold and I'll have to strip it off and start sanding again.
Here's some pics all done. Hope they turn out.

With the guards cut off I had no use for the second snap strap so I turned it into a spot for my firesteel and some P-cord to keep from slapping around. Might swap it out with a rangerband tho if this doesn't work. Whatcha all think? for some reason I keep coming back to this knife. Think I'm in love again.

I like it. It has a certain something, and I've always liked fat blades for some reason.

Thanks all. It is more user friendly without the guards. It has sliced into many things since it's homecoming. Slicing meat, cutting rope, chopping wood and even digging holes in the ground(not something I usually do, but it was there and a hole needed dug). I'm not a fan of blade coatings but it seems to fit this knife.

I hate the gaurds Ka-Bar puts on their knives, it's useful for the combat models but for most of the others it's just in the way. I have their campknife and chopped off the top gaurd, the bottom gaurd is good to keep me from chopping a finger off but having a guard on top seems just odd for anything other than combat.

Update- I took the hog out today and chopped in half a 3"-4" thick piece of timber then a 2"-3" one. The bed liner held up better then I expected. Wore away about 1/4" from the edge the entire length of the blade. No real sign of any scrapes or scratches anywhere else. I'm pleased with the outcome. It looks like a user again!
