A kukri of mediocre quality that fooled collectors of ultra high quality pieces.
This is in the Wallace Collection and when I took it apart the curator was surprised to say the least. The grip is a modified shamshir handle of brass that was made in the late 19thc. The Nepali blade had a poorly done koftgari design applied and the tang was riveted with a new piece of steel to accomodate the replacement grip. The scabbard was modified to accomodate the change and implies Indian manufacture.
