Hello all!

I am looking for a small EDC blade for light cutting tasks that I can remove the blade and get through security if needed. I go into a lot of government buildings, so I can’t always take a knife with me.

I was looking at the Rexford RUT, but they are EXPENSIVE. Is the quality really that great? Are the worth the price? Has anyone had success going through security with one, or is it still an issue even with the blade removed?

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with the offering...but will say based upon past experience, that what you get away with in one facility may not carry over to another. And I always carried whatever I had along with a badge and credentials. Even when I showed staff the actual law, they still had their own rules.

So, don't count on anything is my best advice. Good luck in any case.

Let’s say you actually sneak one in, get caught using it, you lose it for sneaking it in and the security guard gets disciplined or worse. Nah

I carry one everywhere, mostly as a backup that's always on my keychain. The quality is very good, but value is in the eyes of the beholder.

I don't see the point of removing the blade. You don't have a knife then, just a bottle opener and standard screwdriver.

I have a Redford RUT, It is expensive, take a look at “Big Idea Design” they have a TPT Slide that is a good alternative (I have one of these as well).

I’d only remove the blade if I needed to go in a restricted area. Otherwise I’d keep a blade in it for use.

I had a tpt slide shortly after they came out, and the slide button broke twice. I also had issues with one of their pens, and their customer service was lacking. Decided not to go back to that brand.

That has not been my experience.
