I have a 46-year-old RH Ruana 28C Skinner. This beauty has a super sharp surgical edge, which took a month to hone when I first took possession. Bonner is about 10 miles from my home in Missoula and I have carried this knife with me all over the world, Alaska and Guatemala to Africa and now it is with me in England. When I die I am having my body dropped off above the timberline but the knife will be returned to the Ruana family. Anyway after 46 years the Elk antler handle needed some attention so I asked Mike Hangas at the Bonner works for advice on sealing the open antler cells along the edge near the handle. He said to use Locktight Super Glue Gel and after three applications I had filled the porous antler cells. Next I sanded the Super Glue with an abrasive that has given a glass like transparency to the glue so now the antler cells are clearly visible under the glue. I cannot describe wow beautiful the finished product is it looks so unreal. The abrasive paper I used is specially made for putting a polished surface on Fibre Optic cable. IT Geeks will know where you can find it. Try it.
