Will owning a knife with pearl handles make me a pimp?  I am thinking of the movie Patton and the title character's response when a reporter asked if his sidearms had pearl handles.

He was talking sidearms, not knives. If it is true (not) then I know an awful lot of pimps and guys who make knives for pimps.

If a man can keep alert and imaginative, an error is a possibility, a chance at something new; to him, wandering and wondering are a part of the same process. He is most mistaken, most in error, whenever he quits exploring.

My favorite handle material is nice pearl.
For me nothing beats a nice black-lip pearl. As for natural materials, pearl seems to be the most stable with time in my experience, but I do not have a stone handled knife yet ...

This knife has some of the nicest I have seen.

Does carrying this on opening night make me a pimp?

I doubt it.

actually...its a long slow gradual process of going from a casual knife buyer...to a serious one...to a pearl handle freak to eventually falling off the log and turning into a pimp....so be careful.

Thanks for the warning Tom, but I may already be too far along the path you describe to save myself. I thought of the scene from Patton after receiving my first pearl handled knife yesterday and have already decided to replace my Brend SOCOM kraton(?) inserts with blacklip pearl.

By the way Gus, I'm green with envy and only wish I could "see" the scales you so kindly shared with us. Based on my limited experience a digital photo is nice, but can only hint at the pearl's beauty.
