Rhino Carving set: a best buy!!

I stumbled upon Rhino Knives a while ago while reading some thread on Bladeforums..

(Knife makers: you get more sales generated through users going to your site through your sig line than in any other way...LOL)

I decided its time to get a real knife for once¡Knot the tactical-end-of-the-world-12-inch FB I will never carry, let alone use¡K Laurence, (the man behind the rhino) and I discussed what I need¡K

We settled on a 10-inch S30V carving knife and a matching fork. (Ok ok...so I don't really NEED a 10-inch S30V carving knife...but I had to have some reach...)

Laurence chose a special piece of ironwood for the handles and went to work¡Ka little less than 3 month later I got the call¡Kand low and behold: they arrived...Laurence did a magnificent work: VERY beautiful wood, great workmanship, and what a blade!!!

Laurence sent the knife with a toothy sharpening...which I am not so used to having¡Kafter I tried to sharpen the 10-inch S30V monster...I realized why makers say it's a bitch to sharpen...it's a bitch to sharpen!

Laurence said he prefers the blade to be sharpened like this¡Kfor meat slicing¡KSo I waited until a good target presented itself¡Kyou see, I didn't want to run off and write this review before this set takes on its mission¡K a lamb leg was the chosen as the first target¡Kand boy did it perform! The lamb was effortlessly cut to into almost paper thin slices¡Kand the feel of this set¡Knot to mention the fact it was the first 10-inch knife made from S30V I could show to my guests without having to use my elaborate CPR capabilities to bring them back to life...

The ATT images DO NOT do this set justice. This beautiful wood has to be seen to really appreciate. It is nothing short of stunning¡K.

So? am I a happy camper? You bet your thanks giving turkey I am!

As Laurence told me in an email later on: ¡"This is why I enjoy making culinary knives most of all. No armor piercing, fast deploying stuff with scary logos and names...LOL"

Give Laurence a howler if you want the best in culinary knives made to be used for years...

Images to follow....

gadi had e-mailed me back about how happy he was with the set and the dinner party he served the lamb at. it warms my heart to hear of family and friends enjoying a fine meal together that was prepared and served with my culinary knives.:)
