Well here it is gang. The first 'finished' knife. I have 2 others in the works. This one was made from 5.5" of left over steel. I thought I'd practice finishing this 'leftover' before doing my real knives. However, I was so pleased I made a sheath and all.

When I got done with the cut out I noticed how much it looked like the Rhino Skinner. Probably from looking over all his knives so much.

Also, this is the first knife I've ever sharpened with D2. Wow, what an edge! It passes thru cardboard like a hot blade thru butter.

Thanks to all for the advice and help.

Steve

PS I adjusted the light to make the blade look better than it is. I still need alot of practice on rubbing out a blade.

PPS Playing around I tried a swell finishing technique. I rubbed the blade over with Bobbing compound. Then I placed a scotch-bright pad on the palm sander and gave it a good buffing. If the other phases of finishing were done better, the finished product would have been really nice.

Hey, I like that one. Nice job for sure. I'll have to save that pic. Hope you don't mind.

its a real safe design. by having the index finger cutout and the thumb ramp you have full control of the blade. feel free to call me if you have ahy questions i may be able to help. 310-260-9245. your doing great!

Thanks all. It is a handy size. Never owned one that filled the palm like that. More comfortable than I imagined.

Roger, sure go right ahead and keep a copy. BTW if you do make one like it could you post or send me a pic. I'd like to see what you've done with it.

The angle between the index finger groove and the thumb rest took the most planning and adjustments. And, like Rhino says, it does add alot of control.
